Im looking at the 740s bundle as well, but have heard that the "18" radar is not a very good one. I guess it all depends on what you will be using it for. IMO, I want radar for night and the better the unit is, the safer so Ive held off on this bundle until I find out more. Anyone else that knows this setuo or has experience with it?

I have the 6000i and a lower end Garmin (545s). I much prefer the NS unit. The damn Garmin is not even close to accurate with the GPS. I am sure people will chime in that it is a bad unit, or whatever. This is the second Garmin I have owned and I was less then thrilled. My neighbor hit it when he said Garmin is all show no go, and Garmin is for kids.
The 6000i is slow and obviously outdated, but it keeps on chugging. FWIW, I am Simrad will be my next redo.

the 18 radar on the garmin is not worthy of its HD name. but it is decent when compared withsome digital, non HD 18inch domes. I went with the new raymarine E7d and 18inch HD digital dome. The 740 is a great unit and is a top seller for a reason. BUT, In the last 18 months or so, there have been a lot of competitors that are worth a look in the 7inch touch screen market. the raymarine hd domes are very nice, and the navico broadband radars are a great option for many people.

I don't think the Northstar radars are still available. They do not use the Navico radars.

The HD digital radars are still available but they don't use Navico's 3g and 4g radars
