On the Water is reporting that 12-year-old Nikole Travis of Danbury, Connecticut, caught a 10.4-pound tautog (blackfish) last week that cold set a new youth record.

The ‘tog was 23 ” long, and was taken on a sandworm from a boat off Clinton, Connecticut. The fish was weighed in at River’s End Tackle in Old Saybrook.

Congrats to Nicole, nice fish!

Nice to see CT recognizes the Yutes!

My 10yo son landed a 10lb 4z 25" Tog w/ me Thanksgiving weekend 2011. Unfortunately, RI does not keep separate youth saltwater sportfish records.

Since it was such a great catch for his age, I had it mounted for him, and got a call recently that it is done. He thinks he ate it! Can't wait to see his face.

They don't??? I wasn't aware of that......they really should.
