Thinking of replacing my brakes. boat and trailer approx 8,000lbs. these are $29.00 each as opposed to $140 for a pair. I know they are not free backing but not sure if thats even a big deal because I don't think the ones on my 10 yo trailer are free backing anyway. I'm thinking of going to electric over hydraulic and this would save quite a bit. Opinions please

Something is wrong, you are not getting all that for $29.

Don't know but there are a dozen other versions at similar prices there.

Like said prior, that's just a portion of what you need to do those brakes.

Kodiak disc kits are $300 or less for everything.

Yeah, you'd still need drums, seals, bearings.....

The price for those is about inline with similar electric drum units, though.

Drums are probably $50+ each, plus the backings and other stuff.
Bite the bullet and go disc, that's what I'd do, especially if you are serious about upgrading to E/H at the same time.
E/H disc is the way to go IMHO.

Thanks so far...
Hubs can be turned I believe and bearings are good to go. I agree with disc but I can re-do each wheel for $29+$15.(drum turning)+$5grease+my labor=$49.00/wheel 200.00 for all 4. Leaves me some room for the e/h actuator. Seemed too cheap for the brakes but I've ordered and we'll see. Opinions on the BrakeRite vs Dexter electric actuator?
