I just bought my first boat and was wondering who people in NJ are using. I also saw my insurance offers some towing coverage, what do you guys recommend? I will be doing most of my boating in the Barnegat Bay and Great Bay areas.

Also.... Don't skimp... The BEST deal is the unlimited towing coverage... It's around $169 with SeaTow in my parts.... ABSOLUTE best peace of mind money can buy!!!!
DO NOT rely solely on your insurance policy... One tow can run into thousands of dollars.. literally...

Mike - I sent you a pm about a special TowBoatU.S. Barnegat Light has going on.
Had a great experience with Kermit who runs the Sea Tow in Barnegat Bay. I think he is based in Tom's River but he was the man when I needed an old Egg moved in Bay Head. I would take he and his team to the bank.

I switched to sea tow and will never go back. My boat is docked bayside split between Manasquan and Barneget Inlet, Sea Tow will take you to your port vs competition which takes you to their home port. You will have to pay additional to get back to your slip if they have a dock closer.
Last year sea tow picked me up 6 miles out in the ocean took me through the inlet / canal and threw me right in my slip for the standard yearly fee. All that for a 3 dollar anti siphon valve.

I can't say how they do it in New Jersey but last year we had a complete engine failure in Narragansett Bay so I called Tow BoatUS. The captain was very nice and he towed us right back to our dock with no questions asked. It was probably around a 9 mile tow. I got a bill in the mail about a week later marked paid in full. It would have been just under $800.00 but was free due to my tow boat us membership. Great service.

ReelyHooked - not sure where you heard this from or what circumstance you were in but this is untrue. If you go out of manasquan inlet and break down off IBSP, either TowBoat Manasquan or TowBoat Barnegat Light would come get you depending on where YOU want to be brought to.
Also if you are a Unlimited Gold Member there would be no extra costs for you as a member.
I use Tow Boat US and are very happy with them. Both times I needed them it was Tow Boat US Barnegat Light and they were great. Glad to know I have them and they are there.
