I have been running the DSM 300 for about a year and about 6 months ago its started acting weird. It would randomly stop displaying data. Every thing look normal but there is no new bottom data. On Sunday it lost it and started doing it every 5 minutes. If i power down and then back up it will run again.

Do a search here and on raymarine.com lots of info on this topic. The DSM300 is very sensitive to voltage drops.

Ok I have had this same problem since it was new. I upgraded the software, I rewired it to an independent battery, I sent it back to Raymarine. He is what I did a year ago and knock on wood have not had a problem since. My DSM 300 was mounted to the fiberglass bulked behind my helm. I noticed a lot of times the screen would freeze if I what in a chop or real ruff stuff. I took the rubber washer you use on hoses and placed one behind each screw as a shock absorber. Since then no issues. Give it a try.
