Ok so like a ton (no pun intended) of other people I have weight to lose... my job is doing this thing called a wellness challenge where you can pick either to walk 100 miles or ride a bike (bicycle) 500 miles between may 1st and october 1st.

Well I plan on doing that, but I wanted to do something more... I wanted to push myself a little harder... well I started thinking about the things I have that kinda hold me back a little, my wife, as dear as she is... is not so helpful. Always buying junk and I know I dont have to eat it, but when I keep hearing, "One wont hurt" yeah who can ever eat just one?? unless your talking a whole pizza haha. But anyway I thought how can I get her help and not hurt her feelings lol well I have decided on the Beard challenge I just blogged about it and instead of cutting and pasting it here check it out... let me know if you think it is dumb... but she hates beards ha... so I figure if that will help motivate her... Beard Challenge (http://www.douglasmb.wordpress.com)

This might be either the most creative thing I have ever done... or the absolute dummest lol

Dude, whatever motivates you is all that matters. Get healthy for you, whatever it takes, she will see it. In my case, cigarettes and rum make me happy.

I had no choice so I started cooking for myself (the fish I caught) and buying tons of veggies and cooking them too. After I lost 40 lbs she finally caught on. Keep with it. My cholesterol went from 318 to 183 in no time by cutting animal fats (i.e.; meat, cheese, milk, yogurt, etc.). Drink lots of water too. It sucks to have to pee all the time but you get used to it. Lost the weight by dietary change only. Never broke a sweat at a phony gym, jogging, etc.

People ask if I'm a vegan and I say what's that? I just eat healthy now and feel great.

Stick with a good program and Good luck to you

(and stay out of deli's and pizzaria's)

Will Power. Stick with it. You can do it.

Also a lot of people cook with olive oil however over 400 ° it changes it's metabolic properties and becomes real bad (for lack of better description, google it). Use it sparingly raw on greens and it's good. Greek olive oil is the tastiest, actually IMO.

A guy in my company did a mustache challenge at work, with all the money going towards the children's charity of your choice. There were 40+ guys that entered, and most of them were Indian. My company put up $4000.00 for the top three winners, and I won!

I chose to donate my $2000.00 winnings to the Cam Neely House, which provides housing for parents of children undergoing cancer treatment in Boston.

Whatever it takes to motivate you, go for it... get hairy! Good luck!
