After reading the hyperbole of that petition, I'm in favor of the bill.
I'm in. I wish these assholes would just go away. Where did they pick the 10 rounds? Why not 8 or 12? I know shooters that can shoot and re-load an 8 round .45 and do more damage than someone less experienced with a 16 round magazine. The part about taking back the magazines that exceed 10 rounds is damned comical.
My money says this will never make it out of the house.
Edit: I think HB 223 would have been more appropriate.

it's a "magazine", not a "clip"
this is in response to the gabrielle giffords shooting obviously, where the perp used a high cap magazine in his glock. good on you for raising a stink about it
no one thought the clinton assault weapons ban would pass, but it did

I chuckled when I read the part about taking the high cap magazines as well. Good luck, I guess.
Four years ago Obama was going to take EVERY gun and the prices haven't come down since. When is that going I happen?

IMO if not for 9.11 and the war(s) that followed Clinton's AWB never would have expired.
What happened in 94 that got the ban going to begin with?

Without sending this to the bilge there was one party that controlled the congress and white house.

The "Brady Bill", named for James Brady, a shooting victim in the 1981 attempt to assassinate Ronald Reagan. James Brady and his wife Sarah championed the assault weapon and large-capacity magazine ban until it was finally passed by Congress and signed by Bill Clinton in 1994.
Think I'll order another dozen 30-round AK mags...
BTW- the bill H.R. 308? It has been in committee since January 2011. Most bills never get past that point.

And because they saw a window of opportunity with a sympathetic House, Senate, and White House. It was an opportune time to push their agenda forward.
Here go the damned prices again as if they weren't bad enough already!

Sooner or later we will see a new assault weapons ban and this one will not have a sunset.
You can bank on this. Fewer and fewer people are being raised around firearms and the liberal media is just waiting for a school shooting or other attack that they can sensationalize into the next bill.
It is only a matter of time. I dont doubt we will be grandfathered in but production will cease on high cap magazines and the rifles. Ensure you have a lifetime supply and enough for the next generation family.

"Sooner or later" there wiill be an end to the American empire ;?
It sounds like you've copy and pasted from an NRA email, full of baseless threats as usual.
Guns have never sold as well as they are now, even at ridiculously inflated Obama prices.
Just a guess, but I assume many of the folks buying these guns have kids.
Also, month after month there have been 'shootings' in the media. I haven't herad one substantial threat to my second favorite hobby other than the blatant price gauging.

I buy at least two guns a year (one pistol, one long gun). I already have an AR 15 and an AR 10. Only other thing I might get is a mini. Gun safe is slowly but surely filling up. And when this one is full, I'll either get it a twin, or get a bigger one.

.
History always repeats itself. British tried taxing and we fought for the land of the free.
Greed and the right of the American free Govn has adopted every counter measure they can to extract money from its own and far worse than the British every did.
Tea party is now inter govn, and controlled again by its own so there are no sides but the mention of it is suppose to give hope to those they bleed (Money) if you are educated to the point you understand the tea party to start with. They are far to powerful to try and over come or stop now and using another part of history if it were to come to that what have you got...> Brother against Brother. Another civil war.
One by land, two by sea. We're already beaten no matter how you look at it and they never had to fire a shot...;?
But they can't take our rights away. "Right?" They won't stop us from grouper fishing until they pry the satellite linked video and monitoring eqt that you have to buy and license every year for the one fish per day, not to exceed 27" in length, ten total per season, as long as its caught in season and have a circle hook on the line, while paying taxes and tags for the most of us on a boat we don't realize we have almost already lost the right to use for that it was intended,,,,,,, that gives us all the right to fish,, out our cold beaten fingers. :o
Think about it.....:(
.
We are nothing but puppets on their string.
Just when you think they can't come up with more ways to cost/charge you if you don't comply ,,,,,,,,,, They can.
They are doing every thing they can to run us out the ocean and gain control moving now to you guys guns. ..... And they are winning. :(

We do need to remember the lesson from the now-expired Brady Bill. The gun-haters spent 13 years pursuing that bill before a Democratic-controlled Congress and Democratic president made it law. We dodged a "refresh" of the Brady Bill during the first half of Obama's presidency because everyone's attention was on the financial crisis. If we get another Democrat-controlled government after an election, the chance of something like the high-capacity magazine ban becoming law is much higher than 3%.
VOTE!! And stock up now.

Just more "feel good " laws pushed by politicians trying to look like they are "doing something". Problem is that they just affect the law abiding people, as criminals don't give a crap about laws. How about we enforce the laws already on the books. For instance, in NY, as a convicted felon , you can be sent to prison for 15 years for posession of a SINGLE ROUND of ammunition, yet we see people with multiple arrests (including guns) still walking free...and they're in their twenties. So, until the politicians insist that the existing laws be followed , they should take a break from issuing new ones that will be ignored by the criminals. Then again they probably realize that putting their "constituents " in jail hurts their re-election chances. Notice how well those "gun free" school zone laws are working out ? Ive never seen so many school shootings in my life . Maybe if a teacher in those schools with a CC permit was carrying ,things would have been different...certainly couldn't have been worse.

JMHO but get an AK-47 first. Undestructable, cheap, cheap ammo (relatively speaking). There is a reason the rest of the world uses them.

Actually, for all us old timers, they're still clips.......the terminology got changed by a bunch of snotty nosed young twerps sometime after us old timers came back from fighting WW1, or WWII, or the Korean War.... damn, can't seem to recall when they changed it, but it don't mean swat to us anyway....!!!
Y'all have a nice day now, youngster.....

All good things come to an end. They got it past once before in 1994 and in the next 10 years they will get it past again. You have to agree that with every passing day the US is becoming more liberal and also agree that guns laws will only get tougher and more stringent in the future.. It is only a matter of time. The immediate result is more gun sales like what we are seeing but the long term effect is the slow erosion of gun rights. I already have my lifetime supply but the writing is on the wall.
