i have a furuno 585 on my 31 contender and i am looking at upgrading my 600 watt transducer. i am looking at the M260 transducer and want some opinions? thanks in advance.
M260 is a 1kw dual frequency. It would be a great match for the fcv585

M260 is what I'm installing on my raymarine. I have a p79 currently & never had any problems, just want little better ducer. I'm huge fan of shoot through ducers, put it in & never mess with it or adjust, again. Never loose bottom.

The P79 and the M260 are in very different categories...each having its own specific use.
The P79 is a single element 600 watt transducer. Does a good job if mounted correctly and effective for shallow water plus a bit into the mid ranges.
The M260 is an 8 element 1Kw unit that is 50 times more sensitive the the P79.
The M260 will give excellent target detection and being a true broadband transducer is extremely stable over its long service life.
Both need correct mounting and a good sonar to get the most out of these units.

I had the 585 with 600 w transom mount. Now have the same unit with M260.
Small differences when you go fishing up 600 ft. Bigger differences deeper.
