thinkin my boat may be a little too far forward, theres no motor in there.. she sagged an early 2000's f250 pretty good. look like its sitting about a foot too far forward?

Only way to know for sure is to weight the tongue while loaded.

Are you putting motors in or towing "as-is"? I wouldn't mess with the trailer until the boat "set up".

Exactly. Throw the motors on and it will take a lot of weight off the tongue.

well, the issue is i will be moving the boat to another yard without the motor in.. therefore, towing "as is" to new location, then dropping in motor.. i came across a jack from seasense, that has a built in scale.. i may pick one of those up..

off topic, found the truck i will be buying to tow this rig! neighboor's friends1999 f250, 7.3 with only 100K miles - original owner, this truck is immaculate, and at an incredible price.. he's going to starts shopping for a new truck soon, so once he picks something up ill be taking this off his hands, cant wait!

Ditto on the "missing motor" issue. Don't do a thing to the trailer till you get the boat all sorted out. I had occasion to tow my boat about 90 miles w/o the motors a few years ago. It was a brand new trailer and I'd never towed it with motors on the boat. Anyway, w/o the motors it towed awesome. After the motors were installed I towed it back those 90 miles and it was horrible. Anything over 65 mph and it swayed and wagged and was generally uncontrollable. Took it back to the trailer dealer and they moved the boat a few inches forward on the trailer and that fixed the problem.

It would be much cheaper and easier to just go to the nearest truck stop that has a scale and weigh your rig. To get your tongue weight, weigh just the truck first. Then hook up the trailer and weigh the whole combo. Then weigh just the trailer. Difference in truck-only weight and combo weight minus trailer only weight is your tongue weight.

thanks for the tips folks. that being said, i will leave the hull positioned on the trailer where she sits now. once i have the motor in i will adjust as needed

I once hauled my 38 footer without engines (twins) and it did the same thing........what made it worse, both engines were in the back of the TRUCK!!!! It's a dually and it squatted that thing pretty bad.

My first impression when I seen your picture was how much will the boat weigh with motors and fuel? It looks pretty large for a tandem axle trailer. 26' boats are usually on the marginal line for towing with a tandem axle trailer.

Sherline makes a scale for tongue weight. I have had one for about 10 years and really like it. Works great and very accurate.

Trailers rated for 8k carrying cap. It's just a single motor, 350. Boat weighs 6000lbs with the motor, less fuel with what I found online. Going to be keeping the boat in a slip, just on the trailer at my yard off season. Unfortunetly she won't be ready this summer. Luckily, the marina I will be storing it at on trailer in a few months is 4 miles down the road. That's also going to be where she's slipped next summer. To be honest, I prob didn't need a trailer - jus for security if there is an emergency and it has to be moved.
