Marine Electronics Forum - Garmin 542s DSC to Standar Horizon Eclipse GS1150

All - Helping a neighbor install his electronics and cannot get the DSC communication working on the VHF. There is a note on baud rate but no option to set in the Garmin unit. We have enabled all of the supported sentence structures on the Garmin unit.

We have made the following connections:
Garmin Blue (out) connected to the Eclipse Purple (in) wire
Garmin Brown (in) connected to the Eclipse Blue (out) wire
Eclipse Green (common) to the ground on the fuse block

The communication is not occurring...do we need to reverse the top two?

Brown NMEA In+ <----------------------> Purple NMEA Out+
Black NMEA Ground <----------------------> Green NMEA Common or Ground
