Ok so it is pretty set in stone... I have a group out of washington going to get my boat the first or second week of next month. So now I will have it soon, i have already talked to a few local docks about getting a place to keep it. And when it comes i think i have found a yard to off load it, get me some freash battries and check my fuel for me... that was a different conversation and a different post.

So now... i am taking a boaters safty class so i can get the insurance and from looking it over most of it is common sense. But it is foolish to think every has that lol so i will just look at it as driving... just because i can handle mine does not mean you can handle yours.

this boat I am getting i guess is kinda big but then not big. I am getting a 1981 sea ray 255 amberjack with 2 185 mercruisers. 25.5 ft. my father said it was a 10ft beam so i guess once it is hear i have to jump through a ton of hoops to put it in my name and get it legal.

Is there anyone in the craven county area who goes out quite a bit and is familure enough with the waterways here that can kind of give me the low down of the area and waterways so i don't end up my first trip out trying to get a tow because i tear soemthing up.

The best advise i can give to you is the same that was given to me. Until you learn where you are going, dont go any faster than you are willing to hit something. Turns out that was great advise.

I can give a second piece of advise for the entire THT membership...please don't play around with the font settings anymore when posting. Standard typing works best!

Pay a charter captain. Worth every penny, and good luck!! Post a pic of your ride!

Get a membership in either Sea Tow or Boat US, would be my first suggestion.
My second suggestion would be a Captain for hire. He will teach you the ropes...... ICM
