As many of you know the Yankee Capts who normal splits time between Gloucester Mass. and Key West Florida is over. Unfortunately because of a severe regulation change for 2012 and even worse for 2013 for the Gulf of Maine and Georges Banks. Hard pressed Capt. Greg made choice to stay in Key West Florida full time.
I have run a few trips for him in the past with great success for both crew and passengers. While this debacle was going on Greg had asked me "IF" (unkown at that time)he stayed down full time would I like to run a few more trips.

Needless to say I jumped all over the chance.

He is now just making up a new summer schedule for the Key West. Starting June 1st America red snapper will be open until July 15th, If the regs do not change during that time.

My plans for now is to run 2 trips during the ARS season, which also by the way everything else is open also meaning all grouper except Goliaths can be kept for harvest. The boat is fully Air Conditioned, bunks rooms and cabin along with a 42 inch TV for any sports fans. Also there will be other trips after the ARS season is over and while grouper can still be taken.

I should have the schedule in hand by Monday and then I know when I can do my charters which will be limited to 22 anglers.

A full disclosure will also be posted and how these trips are run.

Any questions please feel free to ask either here or PM.

Thanks for looking.

This is great! I used to go on the Florida fish finder and had a blast till they stopped. I always go around lobster season and the Yankee capt was always out of key west by then.

They are out on a trip right now. Once I hear back from Capt Greg, hopefully by Monday Night he should have new summer schedule in place on his website for open boat trips.

Plus I should have a better idea doing the Limited Load Charters in June and July.

I have fished with Lydon, great guy. In fact all the mates on the boat work extremely hard. When that bite is on sometimes they look like they have roller skates on and when it's a little slow they all have great personalities to make you laugh and even will help you rigging and baiting tips.

I don't know if he is staying down for the summer or not at this point. It was a great shock to most of them, but given the circumstances as far as i know they all under stood why Capt. Greg made his choice.

That is putting it mildly. I still have plenty of friends and contacts in NY and the North East, 2 who had mutilpule 3 day charters planned. There disapointent is beyond words but fully understand why.

I told a few, ship there gear to my house or to the boat, jump on a plane and try Keys fishing during the summer, especially from 6/1 until 7/15 when Amrecian Red Snapper is open as well as everything else as well. Then that also leaves up until January for Grouper to be taken also.

Lets put it this way, the answer was not NO.. our season is open. I explained to them that August is still fairly warm and Sept and October have some of the best conditions around. Very Little tourist action and even if you wanted hotles/motels there are deeply discounted because of being off season.

Super sweet news, I also read Capt Greg's ltr a couple of days ago. My wife and I have been on the YC tortugas trips in the past (most recently early Dec 2011) and will definitely line up a trip with you during the ARS season. Thanks for posting the info!
