Gulf Coast - Ditch Bag

i am going put together a ditch bag for the boat so i a wonder what all should i need..

1. first aid kit
2.knife( swiss army knife)
3. whistler,mirror,flares, i thought about some reflectng vest to put on over the life vest
4.extra battery vhf radio with extra batteries
5.thought about a extra locator like a spot to go along with my Personal Locator Beacon
6.a water proof box with a small hand gun like a 38 pistol with extra bullets
7.sunscreen
8.maybe a couple of towels and hats evn some extra sunglsses
9.bincoulars
10.12 pack water and a box of power balls

Load up all u can, just not more than u can ditch with.

I keep an inflatable fanny pack life jacket in my ditch bag as a back up or to help keep the ditch bag afloat.

You need an epirb - that's not on your list!

Also, from personal experience, don't ever throw out the out of date flares. In my experience they worked better then the brand new pack!

You have more than most but if you are looking for something else how about adding a handheld compass.

I don't think you would want a knife in your vinyl life raft. I would ditch the knife lest you drop it and poke a hole in your raft when you need it most.
