I currently own a 20 Defiant which is for sale and am only interested in up-sizing to another, larger Maritime Skiff. I will consider a 25'. The marina I am currently at has asked me to either move to a smaller less convenient slip or buy a bigger boat. I am looking for a Voyager, or Challenger, not a center console. Any leads would be most appreciated. Thanks for reading.

*****This boat is once again for sale. I kept it for the season but managed to put fewer than 20 hours on it so it is once again for sale because I can't justify keeping it. I will probably move to an occasional use trailerable boat. Absolutely zero issues with this boat. These are pictures from last spring but the condition of the boat hasn't changed at all. Still in fantastic shape.*****

On saturday March 31st I had a brand new Honda 135 engine installed on my 20 Defiant. The previous motor was a Honda 90 with 283.3 hours on it. The 90 pushed this boat fine up to 34 mph but I was looking for more giddy-up hence the re-power. On Monday April 2nd I was informed by my town that the 20D did not fit the requirements for the slip I was assigned and that I either had to move to another dock or get a 22' - 27' boat. As my slip space is in a particularly desirable spot in the marina I am now searching for a 23' Maritime Skiff so this boat is for sale. I am the only owner of this boat, it is in immaculate shape in every sense of the word. You could not reasonably park my boat next to a new one and opt to pay double, it's that clean. I have every option on it except for the bow rail, I also have the hideously expensive Maritime Skiff stainless factory bimini top. This is a ZERO hour, brand new motor. I am not interested in any trades unless it is a 23' or possibly 25' Maritime Skiff. $25K

She's purddy, all right. What's the bow layout, flat and level from in front of the console all the way up? Or is there a casting deck of sorts?

If you are happy with the boat why not just pay the "larger boat" upcharge and keep the boat and keep the same slip;?

Seem crazy to HAVE to purchase a new boat based on marina guidelines.....

Nice boat!! Had a 20-P few years back.....loved the boat and loved the ride:thumbsup:

My slip is at the town marina and the waiting list for a 22'-27' slip in town has almost 900 people on it and the cost is about 1/3 the market rate. It took 9 years of residency to get my number called up. The waiting list for smaller slips is shorter and in my particular marina (there are two in Westport) the difference is accessibility between one slip and another can be dramatic. Per town ordinance you are required to have a boat within the slotted dimension - I've already paid the highest rate you can and even paying double wouldn't be an issue for me but it wouldn't matter to the town how much I paid, with my size boat (20' and they go by what's on the registration) and with 900 other people waiting for the slip I've been assigned, they require I move to anther dock (way less convenient than the one I've been assigned), or go bigger. The docks for the smaller boats are more crowded, tighter to get in and out of, and they have cheap stinky small boats for awful hillbillies that do their boating in the peasant craft of those dimensions. This is not an issue about paying up, I could offer them $1000 a foot to put a 15 footer in a 22'-27' slip and they wouldn't take it. The issue is that a town resident would walk by my boat and complain that I should be in a different location so he can get his 27' Contender in and he would be right I just happen to like the one I'm in so I'm looking for a bigger boat. I've owned several Maritimes, and am only interested in buying another, bigger one - I like them that much.

There is a large front multi purpose storage, seating, casting deck up front. With two young kids now, my boat was converted from fishing machine to sea going mini-van and cocktail cruiser and EVERYONE wants a seat up front, it's very typical for two to three adults and a couple of kids to jam themselves up there while I drive.

I'd love to do exactly that, I mean I just put a brand new motor on the damned thing. Thing is, the town let it slide last year because it would be wrong to "make" a person buy a bigger boat so they looked the other way for a year. As you might expect, with so many people on the waiting list there are plenty of games being played to keep a about in the marina but many of the people charged with administering the town programs are friends of mine and I wouldn't want to put them in an uncomfortable position where they can be accused of favoritism or cronyism.

I live right up the street so I drive by your house all the time. Thats a beauty and so is the flats boat I see there as well.

I have been on the list for 4yrs so far and still waiting. I am prepared to do the same thing you are in order to get my town slip.

Good luck in your search.

Funny but this is what is listed in the Town of Westports terms and conditions for the marina - "The overall length measured from any pulpit or bowsprit to the stern-most structured part of the boat (including swim platforms) determines the length used for assignment purposes."

Jeez, the guy wants to sell his boat, whatever his reason may be. Leave it alone, God!

I never saw that snippet in the Term and Conditions because I didn't even think to question the person(s) requesting I either go bigger or move to another spot. Per my early post, at least one of the people who asked and a couple of the people who are aware of my boat/slip dilemma who work for the town are friends and as such I would never want to give anyone reason to question the propriety of my being allowed to stay where I am with my undersized boat. That being said however, I will be happy to raise the issue and provided that no one thinks it would be an underhanded move I would make the modification in a heartbeat and take my boat off the market because it was looking like the move would cost me tens of thousands that I don't really want to spend because really like my boat. The actual dimension of my boat without mods is 20' 6" so a small swim platform and anchor roller would solve my problem in a fraction of an afternoon. Stay tuned because drinks would be on me for sure!

Ummm, does anyone read these things before they post a reply? Hey wetporter, i have a 40 ft wooden lobster boat, needs a lot of work, wanna trade? Its way bigger than twenty foot....

The man only wants a larger Maritime, nothing else! Sometimes I wonder if posting a boat for sale on THT is really worth dealing with the huge idiot factor.

20" transom, top speed is around 40 mph and I still have 2-3000 rpms I can get if I change props.

Never purchased the bow dodger or the stern jump seats. Comes with Garmin 498 that works perfectly. I am including the factory OEM bimini top.

I will call you tomorrow. I am planning to be in Stamford this week end to see another Maritime. Westport is not too much further so maybe we can schedule in time for me to see your boat...I'll be driving up from north Jersey.
My decision at this point is to order up a new 2090 or find a clean used 20D. A new 20D is out of my price range.
