An April Crappie Contest on Lake Minnetonka has been a tradition taking place for 42 years. 2012 should be the 44th but the contest had floundered the last several years and alas, 2011 the Crappie Contest failed to take place. This year an April Lake Minnetonka Crappie Contest is back, organized by Lions Clubs around Lake Minnetonka and Minnesota Lake Party. 2012 Lions Lake Minnetonka Crappie Contest proceeds will benefit the Lions Clubs and their local Charities such as reading programs, food shelves and local community projects. All proceeds from the raffle will benefit Lions charities in the community.
Registration for the event is just $5, and the weigh in will take place at 1pm on Maynard's deck. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd largest fish along with kids 14 and under largest fish will receive cash prizes and trophies. Raffle prizes this year include a 14' boat with Mercury motor package donated in part by NRD Powersports, a trolling motor, fishing gear, slot machine, and gift cards. Minnesota Lake Party has helped the Lions put together this event and donated a webpage with complete prize list, event information, and online registration.
