Dockside Chat - Magma Catalina Grill

Bought one about 2 years ago, damn thing hasn't worked right yet, About a year ago I got with Customer Service, as there is not much to them to go wrong they sent a new regulator figuring that it was faulty.

Problem is it keeps going out!
Couple of times trying to re-start it I damn near blew myself off the aft deck!!

Can be quite a surprise for sure.

Even at home it blows it self out no matter the gas flow Low/Med/High.

This one has the infrared perforated mesh screens below the Grilling grate.

Anyone got one, has the same problem or has any idea?

I'm thinking maybe those mesh heat grates aren't letting enough heat/Co2 out, basically starving the burner. Air in isn't a problem, it has a big slot under, and it ain't wind, cause it does not matter the conditions.

Damn thing ain't cheap either.

I went for Weber Q series electric. Never goes out as long as the shore power is plugged in or the genset is running. Awesome little grill.

I got a TEC Cherokee. made a bracket and mounted on a downrigger mount. Best catalytic grill there is in my opinion. This is not a dedicated marine grill but works well in all weather conditions. TEC grills have a glass plate that sits atop the burners so it is truly infrared, and you can take off the grate and cook on the glass just like a glass topped stove.
