Andy,

Can you tell me what is in this kit? Does it include all the gaskets needed for the mid-section corrosion repair?

69J-W0001-22-00

I've located this part number on a couple web sites that sell Yamaha outboard parts, but didn't see it on the link to the Yamaha parts site you have. I'm working on the list of parts needed to fix the mid-section corrosion problem that the F225/200's have. I could send you the list I have, it's in xcel format, and I've tried to post on THT, but it keeps getting jumbled up when I try. I have older numbers and the newer part numbers. It's a shame Yamaha just won't list a "kit" part number for this. Also, I see no reason to replace an oil pump and/or strainer on an otherwise fine 600 hr. motor. It makes no sense. If it weren't for the corrosion problems, we'd be running these pumps for thousands of hrs. Before I initiate any repairs I will be taking my boat to my dealer; I have the YES warranty and it expires next Dec. I knew last year the corrosion was there, but he said just keep running it and flushing it. Basically we'll deal with it when the time comes. Didn't believe I really had a problem although the pics tell a different story. They're posted on THT.

Thanks,

What is the engine model number?

With the oil pump, in my opinion, the powerhead has to be removed to change the pump which you will be doing. You will be installing a sleeve kit for the seals to ride on. Do it once....do it right.

We have the F225 2004-2005 kits on our site with part numbers here. Working on the 2002-2003 kits. http://www.simyamaha.com/EXHAUST_KIT_WITH_OIL_PUMP_FOR_2004_2005_F225_MOT_p/f225exhaustkit.htm

Wow, that's awesome, thanks for the link Andy. Here's the info on my engine. It's supposed to be a 2006.

F200 TXR and S.

Your engine is under warranty until 12-12. Why are you considering paying for the repair? have to ask.

Well, honestly I hope I don't have to. I'm just preparing for the worst. After reading all the horror stories that Yamaha won't cover any "corrosion" repair I want to have all my ducks in a row in case I have to undertake this myself in the middle of prime boating season. I haven't had a chance yet to drop the lower unit and inspect it, which I plan to do soon and compare to the condition it was in last year. I didn't even put 100 hrs. on her last year, which is highly unusual for me, so maybe it's not too far gone yet, but I know the problem is there. I know it may sound crazy, and probably is, but if it requires me to spend 7-800 bucks to keep my boat out of the shop in mid summer I'd probably do it. I figure two hard days work and I'm back in business. In Florida if I had to put her in the shop at this time of year for a warranty repair, I would expect to have to wait at least a month.

Gonna shoot you a PM.
