I just installed my new HDS7 MFD, and my GPS will not read my current location. Did I do something wrong? What do I need to do to get it to pick up my location?

Just guessing here...

Maybe it is set on "external antenna" which you don't have?

Quite possibly. Should I let the unit run the auto set up in order to calibrate for "general use" mode, or should I run through entire system and make my own preferences? I guess there is a screen that allows users to select internal or external antanae? I didn't have time to run through the entire system yesterday after setting it up, so I guess I will have to do a more thorough diagnosis. Thanks for the tip.

I'd do the Auto-setup, and then go tweak parameters as appropriate for you.

If you do a lot of slow trolling (with trolling motor, <2 mph or so), there is a setting for the chart refresh that you can change to as low as 1 second I believe - this makes the boat orientation / heading on the chart a bit more accurate without the use of a heading sensor. Sonar settings will be up to your preference / fishing style (make sure to check the Fishing mode and xducer setting).
