I've been searching for the best deal on the electronics package I'm thinking of for my boat and I'm a bit confused. Why is there such a wide range on the prices of the exact same units? I googled (shopping) 'Lowrance HDS 8' and 'Lowrance HDS 10' and then just 'HDS 8' and 'HDS 10'. Is there something that I should be wary of? I don't mean for this to offend the supporting vendors here. My decision at this point is to either buy it local or online and I was shopping the online pricing to make this decision. Should I decide to buy online the supporting vendors here will have a square shot at my business. I was able to see that the preloaded maps caused a change in pricing but even with the same maps there are extreme differences in prices. Example : I found the HDS-10 Insight 83/200 with the LSS2 for $2500 and at a different store the HDS-10 Insight w/transducer and LSS1 was $3500. Thats a $1000 difference and the more expensive one has the older technology. Am I missing something? Is there something that I'm not aware of that can affect pricing so drastically?

I bought my HDS-10 Gen 2 from West..price matched of course. My HDS-5 gen2 came from BOE. I found some good pricing online.

The current model is HDS Gen2, there could still be a few first generation models around. Gen2 has a faster processor system and is capable of running StructureMap.

The example I posted are both Gen 2. I do see a Gen 1 unit here and there but I am verifying a wide price range on Gen 2 units. I wondering if there are refurbished units out there or scratch and dent sales. Or are the different stores just that far apart on pricing? And like I asked above, is there something that I'm 'not considering/don't know about' that could account for such a wide price range?

In all fairness, I searched for hours on line for the best price on 3 items. HDS-8. LSS1 module, and 3G radar.

Jim at BOE Marine was the best price and his shipping was amazing. I received my radar overnight! and the HDS and LSS1 were ordered on a Friday, I got it next business day.

Give him a call. He is very knowledgeable, too.

+3 BOE and Jim Have the price and product to support you.

Why the price differential? There are some that will pay the high price without question, feeling they got the better deal and service for that higher price. Others are greedy.
