Did anyone watch American Chopper and see PJD's Limited edition camaro?

what did you think?

It looks like a stock Camaro with a little bit of metal cladding with some performace parts added. I thought it was nothing special. They avoided the interior shots, but what they did show looked like a lot of wrinkles in the material. The wheels were nice but nothing great. I thought the best addition was the supercharger and exhaust which added 200HP. I'll bet you they will try to get 80K-100K for these. I know the supercharger is 7K parts only and the wheel package is around 9K, plus paint, cladding, interior. It can be seen at:

It looks like the same riveted aluminum he used on the buildoff bike. Im not impressed with his work as of late. Ive built a few bikes in my garage and never understood building a bike that you couldnt ride. Jesse James should have won the buildoff, but the PJD fanboys jumped in without knowing what a real chopper is.

I am all about matte Black and the rat rod hot rod hybrid look but riveting the aluminum panels look amateureish. Not what I would expect from a custom shop more like something I would do in the back yard.

Awful.

I think we are all getting BORED with the chopper thing, so a desperate move to cars.....???

Cheesy rivots, bolt on superchargers, and you have a custom car ?? EMBARASSING.

The show is, I think, slightly entertaining, which is key.

BUT THAT CAMARO WAS A JOKE.

Vinny juiced up the motor and the new pipes probably helped. It looked like Junior mailed in the design work.....real boring, nothing custom. I think this is just the beginning. It would be cool if Jr and Vin start removing body panels and fabricating some bold and aggressive replacements. Add a talented motor and drivetrain guy to the team.

BINGO we have a winner. I don't think he can survived building against OCC so he's trying to get into something different. The shoe's on a different foot when he's out there finning for his own groceries rather causing a bunch of hate when he worked for Sr.
He was always dragging his ass coming in late starting problems etc. Sr. should of kicked his ass out long ago, see how peaceful it is around OCC now.

Jr needs to give his new wife more air time. Maybe in a bikini.

A bikini with whipped cream.

A bikini, with whipped cream and a midget.

A bikini, whipped cream, midget and a tub of cherry jello.

A bikini, whipped cream, midget, tub of cherry jello, and ..................

It did nothing for me. I don't care for matte black, anyone can bolt a supercharger, shocks, and exhaust on a car, the aluminum doesn't go with the car, and for a custom car, it needs more than mail order seat covers with too many wrinkles.

I think his bikes are pretty cool for what they are. I thought the car needed a lot more. He said he's not a car guy, so maybe he was scared to do to much on the first try. He needs to check out a few Chip Foose cars for some ideas.

I am into custom cars like that rest of you, but to this date, I have never seen a car done like that with the aluminum-rivet look. Its fair to comment whether you like the look or not, but its hard to deny that its not original. It is his style.

We had a high perf boat a few years back that we hired a graphic artist to come up with a paint scheme for. He gave us a few options, which we had forwarded to the customer. We spent a couple of months going back and forth between the customer and the artist changing this, or changing that. It came to the point where the artist put his foot down and said "you hired me because of my work...if they want something different then I do, go hire someone else."

Chip Foose has his own ideas. PJ has his own. Like em or not.

He did himself a diservice by highlighting a whole episode to promote it. He spent about 10 minutes with the design, and used scrap pieces he had laying around to produce it. Everything else was extras that anyone can buy out of a Jegs Catalogue. I think he will be lucky to sell 10 of those.

I thought the worst part of the episode for him is that his guys had nothing to do while he was sketching the design. How do you make any money with guys sitting around the shop with no work? He has no backlog of work?

just remember, the crap we design ourselves isn't published world wide by Discovery, and therefore not open to public critique like his is.....I'm sure we've all fabbed up something that was less than stellar....but then again, I don't have a prime time TV show to broadcast mine...and I'd be willing to bet he makes more money being on TV then he does selling bikes

I like some of his bikes but what he did to that car is not good.. Bikes and cars are not the same.
With something small you can add a lot of stuff. With something big like a car its all to easy to make it look busy or way over done when you add to much. Custom on a car should be left to under the hood and on the inside. Rims, window tint, maybe a little high light in graphics, and dropping it, but way to many go overboard when the lines of the car is what makes it cool to start with. You never seen a custom AMC Pacer...More than likely never will.
Russ, if you catch this thread thats a TVS supercharger you were asking about.
That I like.. The rest of the car didn't do anything for me either but I don't have to drive it. :o.
As to the Car itself I really do like the looks of the Camaro. In street form its a very heavy car but you put 600whp and torque on anything its going to move.
On the track take off a hundred pounds is a tenth of a second. Don't work out that much on the street but its not that far off.

Best part is that the aluminum plates will act as a battery and speed up the corrosion! Those plates will look great in 5 years as white pitted skank.
