I gave up two or three 'updates' ago. It's a shame really, used to be one of my daily stops.

Use it on a weekly basis...the layout is different than the original but it basically works the same one the old one did...don't see what all the negative waves are about....

I gave up on them a year or two ago when I would regularly get the message on my screen from the server company saying they hadn't paid their bill. Don't know how much worse it can look than that.

A forum isn't about the technology (even though it helps). What makes a forum worthwhile is the content and contributors. The content contributions from the users declined big time. The tone of much of the remaining content became mean spirited then FS tried fix it with the "upgrades."

I really miss the local reports where we could help each other find fish. I haven't been there in quite some time.

Local reports are still there, it's just SLOW to load. I follow the "tropical" pages.

We're you MitziNate over on the FSF? If so, I remember you. Didn't you have a thread when you were having a tat sleave getting inked? Maybe I'm remembering things wrong.

I was burningdaylight over there too....I was on their front page with my fishing reports probably 8 times, all of my threads vanished when the site imploded. I haven't been back since. Quite honestly, it was heartbreaking. I put a lot of time into my reports and poof! They were gone....

i haven't even so much as clicked on that page in well over a year. ever since they made that big redesign, the place went downhill FAST. like burningdaylight said, everything disappeared. not archived, not saved, just gone. it was horrible. really disappointing.

i had noticed a decline in quality before the redesign where fishing reports became merely ads for a charter guide or where simple questions turned into pure arguments. it just wasn't what it had been in the past. too bad, too. Two of my closest friends to this day I met on that forum (burningdaylight and keywest1). Now it's basically all THT all of the time.

i was "mitzinate" for a long time then requested that my name be changed to "nate".

as someone pointed out here the overall tone on fs became mean spirited so i bailed. im in too good of a place in my life to deal with that kind of bullshit.

The magazine is not much better. :(

agreed. i let my subscription run out. the magazine thinned out so much that I felt that I was paying for advertisements rather than actual info. I realize that it's exactly actions like mine that are probably why FS went downhill and that I'm only perpetuating the vicious circle, but I just got so disappointed with both print and online FSF...

They finally realized that Eric was one of the problems and canned him a week or so ago, but I'm not sure Blair has a clue either. Someone from IB (the owner) needs to start paying attention to what is going on there - unless of course they like losing money.

Dr. Robbins?? Wasn't that his name? Ultimately responsible for the meltdown IMO. He kept telling the community that all the archived data was safe, it would be restored, and that the forum would be better than ever....

Never happened, now its disorganized and confusing as hell to navigate.

I was one of the "1st members" back in the early 2000's when the forum was nothing more than a web page with 100's of threads and text.

Sad, because that was really their greatest asset and they blew it.

The only thing I miss is the egret bash threads that were created just to get JB in a uproar. once he started he kept going

I still check in on it every once in a while but nowhere near as much as I check THT.

Especially without JB around it's a pretty boring place, I used to have way too much fun at that guy's expense.

I drop in every now and then hoping they restore the site to a format that remotely resembles a typical internet forum. I feel safe in saying they've lost me forever. Used to be pretty damn good.

I will post an occasional fishing report or read them but the "South" fishing reports are slow....Unless you are the Miami Mutton Man..... .That site is a pain to navigate and all of the good info is gone.
