A local woman lost several hundred dollars to scammers who convinced her she’d won a popular sweepstakes.

Police said the scammers convinced the woman to send Walmart gift cards to an address to claim her prize. The woman sent nearly $500 in gift cards before realizing she had been cheated. :bashhh:

The reason people still fall for these types of scams is very simple...One word sums it all up...GREED!!!!!!!!

Anyone can be had by this type of scam, the scam must fit the level of intelligence and amount of greed the victim is willing to assume!

A county treasurer from Michigan fell for one of the Nigerian email scams. He turned himself in to the police when he finally figured it out but not before he was duped out of 1.2 million dollars of county money that he had embezzled.
