Marine Electronics Forum - Buying a garmin 740s or a 720s...

Any benefit to buying a 720s instead and getting the Blue Chart G2 Vision card, since there is a rebate on them? Benefits or what will I miss with this?

I live in the Bahamas (Nassau) and will be using it for diving, island hopping and up to medium level fishing. I love to fish and will go off shore for dolphin and wahoo, maybe occasionally for grouper and snapper, but mostly this will be for the chart plotter and trolling.

I've seen 1 thread on this but it didn't go too deep w/ opinions and Gil suggested I post it here.

Thoughts or suggestions?

The Vision card overrides the preloaded charts. So unless you plan to go outside of the Vision area then there is no reason to get the 740 over the 720.
