I bought a S/H CP500,the FF 525 BB and an Airmar M260 ducer. Can I change the plug on the ducer cable to work with a Garmin 52?? Series. I use the 740s on my airboat and have just spoiled with the touch screen.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Did you buy the mix and match M260?

Airmar now makes many transducers in a generic 'mix and match' (MM) model that will work with a wide range of different brands of electronics. These transducers have a 2 meter cable attached that ends in an Airmar connector that is not brand-specific. The Airmar connector has 5 pins for 600W transducers and 9 pins for 1000W transducers. Adapter cables are made for each specific brand of electronics, with an Airmar 5/9 pin connector at one end of the cable (to connect to the transducer) and a brand-specific connector at the other end of the cable (e.g Furuno 10-pin or Garmin 6-pin etc). The total cable length with the adapter cable is 10 meters (33 ft) from the transducer to the sounder or fishfinder. A 12 meter (40 ft) extension cable is available for the Airmar 5-pin connector (600W models) and a 6 meter (20 ft) extension cable is available for the Airmar 9-pin connector (1000W models). This system creates production efficiencies for Airmar and helps keep prices down. In addition, a customer who has installed a mix and match transducer can easily switch to a different brand of electronics just by changing the adapter cable. The transducer does not have to be changed.

Looking at the box;

Part # 41-269-3-02
Housing M260 in hull
Frequency 50AE & 200BH-kHz
Connector 8-PIN MALE AIRMAR

I bought this new about 6 months ago and have been rehabing the boat ever since. Getting close to done and want the electronics to be right.

Will this unit allow me to use an adapter for a Garmin unit? If it will work someone will get an incredible deal on a new SH CP500

Just do this..
If your M260 is a mix and match you will have a 6' cable ending with a connector from your transducer.
You will also have another 29' cable that is separate.
If that is what you now have in the box...you can change to the Garmin 29' cable and use it with your 740S.

Does anyone know the pin out for the 6 pin connector on the 740S I am trying to connect it to a old Signet transducer with a RCA connector. Signet tells me it should work, Garmin and Airmar tells me there is no adapter. I tried the pin 4 and 5 from the Airmar site that they show for other garmin models, but no luck
