What does this mean??? ;? I try to reply to a post and Avast won't let me, blocks THT.

Yes, that was close, but relax... avast! just saved a crash!

Compared to the past, when email was the key method for spreading viruses and spyware, now more than 80% of malware spreads via the internet. In fact, latest avast! Virus Lab research shows that 99% of it spreads through legitimate websites, with only 1% coming from suspicious or ‘dodgy’ sites.

There's a chance your PC is already infected, and Avast is just picking up an unauthorized action. You're a contributing member, so we can't even blame the ads. It also could be that this site used something that tripped an alarm such as XSS or maybe a zip file where there shouldn't be one.

I'll see if I can dig up anything.

You can also try and update your avast to the latest definitions. Since so much of it is signature based now, there is a good chance of a false positive. Update your Avast & reboot, and see it you are still encountering the same issue. I was unable to replicate it in Windows XP or Widnows 7, and I tried under Chrome( updated), Firefox( updated), and IE(ver 8 on XP and 9 on win7.

I too have had this happen a couple of times over the last week or so. Avast is updated, and so is Malwarebytes. I ran a scan and it doesn't show any infected files, and I haven't had any problems with my PC.
Something's up...

I can be on THT no problem, Avast doesn't squawk. If I go to THT through Google search results link Avast stops me and I get the connection reset thing.

Ditto. It first happened a little over a week ago, a sent a pm to wherever can't long on messages go, never heard back from anyone at THT. Since then it stopped happening, until today.

Perhaps it is a compatibility thing with Win Xp + Avast + THT? ;?

I did not go to that other site ... it came to me, automatically.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The first time it happened to me was when I came straight to the THT home page after opening my browser. The last time was when I clicked on a Google link to THT.
Anyway, no problems in the past two days.

anyways, back on topic... Avast causes sporadic issues with THT on my computer, too. Like others, it doesn't like it when I go to THT from results in a search engine (google, bing, etc). It also sometimes tells me that I have a rootkit virus, I follow all directions to fix it, restart the computer, and all is well for a day or two. Then it pops back up.

All of this started back when I got the initial virus that was running through THT about a month ago or so. My work computer was wiped clean, everything reinstalled, and it still has these issues. AVG never caught it the first time, by the way. Not until I installed Avast did it even recognize that something was "amiss".

I never got that virus. I believe it had something to do with a specifi thread, and I read about the virus before opening that thread. Actually, to this day, I still haven't looked in that thread.

Avast is good stuff. The intermittent problems accessing THT are new, maybe it's something with Avast's virus definitions.

If you are new to Avast you'll want to set the options to load Avast virus definitions updates (green pop ups) automatically. But I have it set to notify me before updating the program (blue pop ups). The red pop ups are when Avast catches something.

Something's still floating around. Avast just flagged me opening "Home Break In - Update" thread on infected file www.showyourmedia.com/files/1236645414.jpg (http://www.showyourmedia.com/files/1236645414.jpg). Might not be specific to that thread - maybe it was because it was my first opened THT thread today. Are we to report it to anyone?

I looked at that thread, no problems. Also, no .jpg files when I was there.

Lately I have not had any problems with THT ... only with THT members.

I've been getting that too. My AVG states that it blocked it. It first showed up when I went to the photo section.
