I installed a 585 with an m260 ducer in my World Cat 266sc and are unable to read bottom in anything over about 500 ft deep. I installed the ducer the stb bilge area and followed Airmars instructions. The unit reads bottom great with no interfearance even at 30 mph. I have tried manually tunning on both freq but still cant get bottom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you set on auto gain or manual. I would make everything manual, including range and adjust from there.

Have you selected 1KW or is the 585 set to the default 600W?

I did select the 1kw option and tried using in manual mode with the 50 khz. I have contacted Airmar, and was told that since it was working clearly without interfearance, that possibly i was loosing performance
from shooting thru the hull. The only time that i have been able to read bottom in 500 ft was when the boat was at drift, but looses at trolling speed.

Does your hull have Kevlar in it?

No kevlar in the hull.

I was told that the m260 was the way to go because of disturbance and for trailering reasons, but wish that i would have gone the transom mount 1kw route.

What is the fluid you have filed your unit with?
And was the hull sanded down to base glass where the unit was mounted?

Hull was sanded down, 5200 to the hull and rv antifreeze installed.

You have everything correct.

The strange thing to me is I can read bottom in 300 ft at 30 mph but can't while trolling in deeper. Love the unit and detail, but dissappointed in deep water performance
