Guys im looking at the 76cx as a backup gps. Question is without buying maps will it show markers and buoys for inshore bay locations? If not I guess I could mark them myself?

It will--you'll have to zoom in to see them. Had one till some schmuck broke in car and stole it. Now have a 76CSX--same maps.

I saw all the markers up St Johns River from Deland to Silver Glen Springs

If you can get a CSX you'll be better off--got mine for $125
