Lowrance features says my HDS 8 has programmable softkeys. Obviously, I see them along the bottom but I don't see anywhere in settings on how to change what they do.

Also, is there any way for me to setup what my favorite screens are and quickly loop between just those screens? Or is the only way to switch screens to always go back to that "home" screen and loop through everything to get to it?

You can assign "favorites" to the soft-keys on the "Pages" menu - if I am recalling this correctly, you go to the Pages menu, scroll left/right and then up/down to get to the specific screen combination you are interested in, and then you press and hold one of the soft-keys to save the "pre-set" - like you would do on a car radio.

Then in the future you press Pages and press one of the soft-buttons for one of your 8 favorite screens  Not really a "loop through" like on the Humminbird units, but I find this more efficient as I am always only 2 key presses from the screen I want vs. the worse case of "Max Favorite Screens - 1"

You are not able to change the behavior/function of the soft-key buttons on a given screen - but of course the function of that button changes depending on the screen - so they "multi-task" for you.

There is a setting which will "auto-hide" the soft-key menu if you'd prefer a little more screen real-estate. When auto-hid you just press a soft-key and they pop back up and you select the function you need.

Thanks!!! I will give that a shot.

Yeah, I read and found the auto hide setting. I've turned that on, might as well use as much of the screen as possible.
