Marine Electronics Forum - Garmin 740s and Yamaha F150

Hello, I am a long time reader of the forums and have finally joined today.

I am about to purchase a Garmin 740s and want to be able to display engine data from my 2011 Yamaha F150 on the Garmin 740s. This is going on a new 2011 Pioneer 197SF.

My local boat dealer is telling me this isn't possible on that series of Yamaha. Based on what I've read here, I think it can be done. I also want to do this without having to use Yamaha's Command Link and use NMEA 2000 network.

Can anyone tell me if this is possible and if so, what cables will be needed?
