.....on the rocks!

I'm a beer guy, lite beer at that. But lately I have been getting board of drinking beer while just hanging around the house. On the boat and out fishing I will stick with the lite beer.

So we have a liquor cabinet in our house but we (the wife and I) don't drink liquor at all. As mentioned I am a beer guy and she drinks wine and lite beer. But we have a nicely stocked liquor cabinet for guests and parties which happens often.

Well today after work (I work from home) I decided to poke around in this liquor cabinet. Decided to try some JD on the rocks. Not much but being that I am a beer drinker I feel pretty damn good after just a couple of small drinks.

I can see why people get addicted to this shit.

Yeah I could be in trouble. I cracked the seal on one of those big ass bottles of JD. Amazing with all the drinkers we have over that nobody has opened that JD yet. I have been looking at that big ass bottle for about a year now.

I suspect it will not be around for another year.

I'm a beer guy too and I've had that same big ass bottle of JD sitting
for 15 tears unopened! Party goers hereabouts prefer vodka and rum drinks, wine and beer over whiskey and gin drinks!
Maybe I should open it before my kids gets old enough for them and their friends

The biggest problem I had in trying to switch from beer to mixed drinks is I drank the mixed drinks as fast as I did beer. You can drink three mixed drinks in the time it takes to drink one beer and you get drunk much quicker.

I finally gave it all up.

You just stepped on the edge of a slippery slope.

Take it slow, good luck and enjoy the ride.

Diversity in one's drinking choices is a good thing.

Actually I drank 3 small drinks in the time I would have drank 4-5 lite beers. But with my beer tolerance I got much farther on the 3 small JD drinks than I would have gotten on a 6 pack of lite beer.

I don't have an addictive personality at all. I'm not worried about it becoming a problem.

Try The Jack Daniels Honey!

Good stuff too

Chris I am a lot like you in that I mostly am a beer drinker, used to drink liquor in younger days but kind of laid off of it

In last 5-6 yrs got to where I love a nice martini or bloody mary but still lean toward beer

Few months ago friend of mine, he had some ISSUES, gave me a brand new 5th of Crown Royal. I finally cracked it open during the Holidays and instantly forgot how much I enjoyed a nice whiskey/bourbon with diet coke to relax in evenings

In fact I think you talked me into one NOW:grin::grin:

I'm also a real beer drinker. None of that light crap for me other than I'm trying to lose about 20 and I'm 9 into that goal just by leaving a few Sam's in the fridge.

I really enjoy red wines. They are my favorite by far.

Jack on the rocks is on my desk right now.

Reminds me of a night in my youth (that I vaguely remember). It was shots of Jack #7 chased by shots of Crown Royal.:o

We just got back from dinner with my 2 bro-n-laws and 2 sis-n-laws. The topic of drinking came up (the 6 of us have a Vegas trip planned) and I turned to my wife and asked if she remembered the night in question above. She verified it was 151 Bacardi shots chased with Crown. At least I got 1/2 the story right.

I love bourbons, with Crown Royal reserve being my favorite. But I recently tried the Wild Turkey honey and find it close to addictive as a sunset or after dinner drink. By comparison, I find that the Jack Daniels honey has more of a bitter aftertaste and the Wild Turkey honey is smoother. You'll also find that girls who won't drink bourbon will guzzle down the honey.

I liked the JD honey, the after taste of the honey threw me a bit may need to try the wth. Makers is next on the hit list along with my dinner chaser Firefly.

I've only had beer for the past couple weeks and I feel fatter already way too filling.

Makers Mark for me, used to drink JD but it gave me hangovers; then I found out why - fusel oils

JD had the highest fusel oil content of any American whiskey and significantly more than George Dickel specifically. If I understood him correctly, he felt that the fusel oils contributed greatly to JD's distinctive flavor.

I also just as recently learned what fusel oils are! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I lived in Bardstown KY for awhile, the heart of Bourbon country. I drank bourbons for awhile but really liked Tennessee whiskey better - specifically George Dickel. It might have been sacrilegious but I made my mint juleps with George Dickel. It wasn't as sweet as bourbon.

She told me that it cost them $230,000,000 for a year of ownership and that the driver (Bowyer) didn't even drink.

I'm a beer drinker as well, usually Bucsh Lites. I know most of you guys will say that's bottom of the barrel type stuff.

Anyways when I want a liquor drink, I'll pour me a Crown on the rocks.

Last summer I found a new drink and boy does it sneak up on you ---- Carolina Sweet Tea Vodka. Put that on the rocks with a fresh slice of lemon. On a hot summer day at the sandbar it's very refreshing, but you better have a designated driver. The first time I had it, I got a little too deep into it, and we didnt have a desginated driver. We ended up sleeping it off at the sandbar through a darn storm. I was suppose to be home by 5pm and didnt get back till 1130pm; boy did i catch hell for that one. You can hardly tell you are drinking alcohol.:bashhh:

Tennessee whiskeys do qualify as bourbons under the legal definition (yes, Virginia, there is a legal defininition); however, both parties (Caintuckee and Tennysee) have a gentleman's agreement that one taint tother.

If opinions mean a dam, its impossible to beat Jack and water. (1/3rd jack - 2/3rds water). or to suit your taste. Eliminates all the hangovers and headaches caused from mixing with coke products. Why ruin the taste of natures best.

My best friend can drink a 1/5 of JD in a night get up and go to work and be functional at that!! He is a proffesional, me I cant even hardly drink anymore, hangovers are becoming debilitating to me now and after a night of drinking I cant sleep so I get the full effect.
