Nope, None. We have been together for 8 years, and lived together for more than 6. The only pre-nupt we have is to not get married! No changing names, no hassles if we decide to walk. Why change things, now.

Better check your common law marriage laws up thereto be sure.

I know a (wealthy) guy who thought he was going to run with the same plan. After ten years his trophy piece split and she took a pretty good slice of the pie with her.

NJ does not permit common law marriages.

I have one it was a mutual decision. Whats hers is hers and whats mine is mine. I don't know if that will change now that we have a 2 year old. We been together for 13 years married for 5. So far all is good no complaints always said I would never get married.

Had one and tossed it after 5 years of marrige, we agreed in writing that if anything were to happen things would be divided as follows and we made a list.

Anything not covered in the list goes 50%-50% down the middle. Do it while things are good and your still friends. When and if the fighting starts it gets ugly. Have never had an issue worth noting.

I don't have one but I have clients who do. It really depends why you would want one. For example, it comes up frequently in second marriages, where both spouses have kids from their first marriages. It usually involves each spouse waiving their claim to the other spouse's estate. In FL, a surviving spouse is entitled to what is called an elective share, which I believe is 30% of the deceased spouse's assets. Premarital assets should be kept separate if you want to "keep them separate".

Yep, have one.
Second marraige
She has never gotten quite over it.
been married 11 years last week though.

Marriage is betting half you shit it will work out.
just too many variables these days to risk half..........twice.

first one got half, this one will see me die before she gets it.

bottom line here guys is over something like 85% of ALL divorces are filed by women and over 90% get half and the kids.

May be wrong on the exact numbers, it's been 13 years since I was going through the divorce hell, but the systems still favor and almost encourage woman to leave our dumb asses with all the debt and half the assets.

I have jokingly told the wife if for some odd reason it doesn't work, I'm taking the boat and the truck. If she has a problem with that it's war

When my wife and I were engaged, I actually encouraged her to get a prenup together and offered to sign it. Her assets were more than 10 times what mine were. She refused, saying that it was a bad way to start a marriage. It made me love her even more.

....we have one, we got married late and both have substantial assets. She's growing hers by clipping coupons and I'm shrinking mine by buying large boats.

That is the best way to go into a marriage. But you do know that you get to take out of the marriage what you brought into it. Only thing you get to fight over is the appreciation of those assets and those asset you've acquired during the marriage.

Wife is a divorce lawyer so I'm fucked if I screw up. 25 years this October and it's cheaper to keep her........

I brought the subject up briefly. The lady said she was happy with her present net worth and really did not want to get a fair share of the 3.8 million I owe. Unreasonable bitch.

Everyone here has a prenup. Trouble is many don't realize it. But trust me, if you don't/didn't fill one out, should a split occur the state where you file has one lined up in detail just for such cases.

I had a close friend that I tried to explain this too years ago but he was of the opinion that it was like planning for a break up. About 2 years ago, he discovered the state's prenup and it was not pretty.

Can you get a retroactive one after 35 years? I think I may need one soon.

Why not just hock off certain things you want to keep to a good friend for pennies on the dollar?

Wife's aunt made her now husband sign a prenup after getting burned on the first loser. He gets nothing when they part ways. Used to be a restaurant manager, now that they are married, he quit his job and became a realtor. I think he sold one house in the last year. Sugar momma...that's what she is...

Brilliant idea!!! I'm surprised that no one has thought of this loophole that magically makes your assets go down before a divorce and then allows you to buy them back after. I wonder if it would work in a bankruptcy case? ;?;)

Why would I want a pre-nup, I got a Sugar Momma!!!! Of course, if you're involved w/ a girl with no job, no money, no prospects, well thats a different story....
