So I been looking at blanks or rods for popping I will tell you this. That shit can be some serious $$$$. These race point rods and black hole, etc... its expensive. Anyone know rods or blanks that are similar but half the price?

A good popping blank is going to start at $100 or so for lower end like our OceanXtreme line and go up to $140+ for a Tuna Sniper, Spinal, BH, etc...

What you're paying for is the correct action, strength, and tip for popping. You can wrap any blank you want for popping, but if it isn't designed for this technique, you're losing out. Mud hole has a cheap alternative, but they are very moderate and can bend into the handle under heavy stress.

What is your target price range? What is the intended species? What reel will you be using?

Oti makes a fantastic blank/rod for popping, we have built on several of their blanks and every customer has been very satisfied. The black holes and race points are also great blanks but as mentioned will cost you alot of money.

I personally like the action of the OTI especially for the price.
