I'm starting to lazily shop around for a sea kayak. I've rented a Jackson cuda and went down our local river just me and a 6 pack for a load (180lbs). To say it went to hell over rocks was an understatement but going down some class II rapids was cake. Naturally it felt top heavy bc only about 1" of the boat was in the water. This made the drains pop up water when on the move, the rental guy said I didn't need them, glad it wasn't cold. The high seat made me feel like a longer paddle was needed but I could fish all day in it no problem. The only thing I was missing was a kids seat bc here shortly my son will be fishing with me.

Anyone fish one and what would your opinion be of it? What else should I try out that is completely sea worthy and fishable with the ability to have my son with me. I'd like to hear sit a on top kayak options and opinions.

The yak is going to be my rec toy til I can afford a cc boat.
