Hey Andy...After receiving my WP kits from you the other day, I dropped the lower units yesterday to start the work. After lowering the port lower unit on my '05 F250 I noticed a stainless "Ring" in one of the voids next to the shifter..any idea what that is or where it came from?
I thought at first it was an alignment dowel pin, but I checked the part numbers and what I have in stock, and they are not hollow like that one is. There were other parts that looked like that on the diagrams, but they ended up being rubber and not metal.
Got me stumped.

Thanks for looking Andy..From the area it was found there is nothing really above it where it could have fallen from.Last time I dropped the LU was 2 years ago when WP's were done and they have been running GREAT..guess ill keep fingers crossed and hope for the best.

Looks to me like the grommet/spacer for the apron. I was finishing up my water pump replacement and found my grommet on the ground when replacing the aprons.

Is that part in the plastic housing that alignes with the replaceable pins that come in the water pump kit?

I went outside and removed the starboard side apron (standing behind the motor) hex bolts, the two bottom bolts have the square nut #9 that drop out. The top bolt (shorter one #8) is where that part is located recessed inside the port apron where the hex bolt passes through. I'll post a picture later. No need to drop the lower unit
Bottom cowling 3 schematic breakdown does not show that part ;? It is there on my F225.

It goes around the shaft on top of the cover for the water pump. they are included in the water pump kit, at least from doing MerCruiser, and Mercury's.

This is what I was thinking it looks like. That is anti seize lube on it.
