NOTE: THIS TRUCK IS OFF THE MARKET AS OF MARCH 3 AND WILL REMAIN OFF THE MARKET UNTIL I FIND SOMETHING TO REPLACE IT WITH. THANKS, RICK

2000 model 2WD (less R&M) with the 3.73 rear end (good highway MPGs), 3rd row seat, excellent interior (no cracks or rips; leather is OEM and two years new) 163K miles with Michelins all around.

Rear Air, tranny just serviced, bone stock always; never chipped or modded. Dino oil every 7500 miles.

Needs nothing; we just sold the boat and don't need a beast anymore.

I'd be getting a $4-5000 hauler to take it's place; something to pull the cycle trailer and looks decent. A truck like that plus cash would maybe work for both of us.

$11,900 OBO located zip code 36561 rspickering@gulftel.com or 251-981-7616

Located on the coast between Mobile and Pensacola. Easy flight to PNS. This Ex has the best interior leather of any Limited because both front seats got replacement OEM skins two years ago.

Carpet is excellent, too. 3rd row seat allows a whole bunch of kids into the truck, and stock suspension means there isn't a big step up. New Bilsteins all around.

Don't know what you're referring to about a passenger door, and

Don't know why you think you need a 4WD when an air-locker is both better and a lot less money to maintain.

Good luck with your search, either way

I'm disappointed. I was sure you'd want to swap it for my old Toyota. I linked you over at powerstroke.org. You may get some action from them. Someone there is always looking for a good 7.3 EX.

Well, thanks for the referrals, but what do you have in the Toy family? If I can find something in the $5000 or less that has good interior and enough hauling ability to do the job, then we might connect.

It is a 97 T100 with around 230k miles. They are great trucks and I can highly recommend them with the 3.4 engine. Sadly it isn't worth an EX and I am boat poor for now. GLWS

The X 2wd with locker or not would not make it back to the property certain times of the year. We would be pulling it out with the buggy alot.
I was referring to the door skin being off the passenger door.

;? Can somebody tell me what photo shows a door skin missing from a door? Not on this Ex, fersure.

If you tell me which photo is confusing, I will replace it with a different photo, OK?

Their right, 3rd picture down, passenger door cover looks black instead of the beige/tan it should be, appears you can see the speaker and it shows white paint across top where it should be covered with the inner door panel beige/tan color.

Here are both left and right sides....tell me what you see other than OEM bodywork?

Gives me a good opportunity to show more photos, too!

heehehehee, dang, you guys have sharp eyes! That picture must have been taken when I was installing new door lock actuators on the truck (all four doors; actuators are cheap and if one goes, the others are probably ready to go too)

No body work, just actuators and one window motor. Nice thing is that these trucks are DIY for almost everything. Two screws get the door panel off...and on.

Here's some photos taken this afternoon.

X10 on the actuators... Not that is a big deal or cost to replace but if you do one might as well do all. Same thing with my 01 ex and ytk 350. Only had to replace them after 8 or 9 years but once one goes bad the others are following soon. Seriously trying to rationalize having 2 excursions, a 00 f350, and 2008 f450

Well, heck, you have a spare set of housekeys, spare tires, spare bottle of ketchup, spare razor....so having a spare Ex just makes sense.

I am surprised that someone hasn't picked this up yet. I would offer to throw in my Aristocraft. But, I wouldn't be able to enjoy the EX after my wife killed me. She likes it better than our Formula.

A few tire kickers and two offers. Most northern guys prefer 4WD, and not a lot of guys that are in the position to either buy this month, or have something decent to trade out for.

Meanwhile, it's doing it's job by hauling the trailer up and back from the new house. This time next week, that job will be done, too.

I can't use a boat in trade for lack of a place to put it. A pickup that can haul 5000# is my target vehicle.

I've seen a lot of good prices lately on diesels. It seems as though people who don't require a diesel are getting scared of a run up on fuel. I know of a 04 6.0 lariat CCSB with fair miles and all the right mods that is being offered for 10k and you can hear crickets.

We may see an uptick after the election. I wish I hadn't sold my 7.3. But, I just couldn't stand watching it just sit there wasting away.

I'm going to take the truck off the market for the time being. I'm still needing to use it and haven't found anything close to it as a replacement. When I do, we'll give it another go.

Sorry to hear that. Somebody is missing a good one. If I decide to shed the Toyota, I'll let you know. Making reservations for Destin this summer. We'll rent a car this year because it looks as though the fuel savings will offset the rental costs. I wonder how a Yaris rides. LOL

;? Just curious how renting a car offsets fuel costs. Are you saying that driving the distance to Destin would cost more than flying and then renting? Dang, that's tall gas pricing!

Would higher gas prices help or hurt the airlines if it causes a Lot of people to fly instead of drive? We do the opposite and drive, but maybe because airport hassle isn't worth it.

dbkerley
03-05-2012, 05:18 AM
We usually travel in my conversion van. It has only been averaging 14 on that run. The fuel savings offset the compared costs and I end up essentially getting the rental for no additional cost. Driving the rental just saves wear and tear on the van.

We also have an additional person going this year so rather than just get a larger unit we are going to get an additional one to have a bit more privacy with the grandkids along. I don't mind those 7 am bouncing bed wake ups with them wanting to know when we are going to the beach. But, a sleep in option while on vacation will be nice.

Sounds like you made good choices for this year's trip

I went to Fort Walton Beach and back yesterday. In 192 miles on 98...like 19 is in FLA...we stayed pretty much below 60 and averaged 21.1 MPG. Not sure I'm going to get a beater pickup that will do those numbers......
