Guys, I took a test ride and drove this boat. I don't have the bank account to afford this model but I have to say this is the most impressive fishing machine I have driven, EVER!
The agility of this hull, designed from a blank CAD screen by a very talented naval architecture, Erwin, is astounding. Heck I talked to Erwin for an hour just asking questions to understand how he thought through the design choices. He's invested over 12 months working this design. The result is awesome. I've driven pod boats and I've been impressed with their manuverability but to take a boat this size and get it to back down at over 12 knots and spin faster than anything else along with the stability it provides; this is a whole new ballpark folks. The team at Release have started something which I predict will be a big winner. Yes, the 46 is a very expensive package so there will be those who judge "who cares", I can't afford it. Think again, the boys at Release have a 34 designed which they'll power with a single turbo diesel with bow thruster. This model is projected to cruise at 32mph burning 16 GPH. I can't wait to see it. I've got to believe that will be another gamechanger.

I too have been watching this thing since it's inception. Like any new boat they had to rush to get it to the show but wow, did they hit it on the head. It even has "pitch bait" livewells in the bow for the tournament sailfish guys. Backing into the slip the prop wash was absolutely amazing. This thing was designed for catching sailfish and chasing fish down. 14 kts in reverse! By far the most impressive new boat at the show.

Hammer

ps. I'll be fishing it in April in the Tortugas
, I'll give a REAL WORLD account of the trip. I will hold nothing back, good or bad.

Let me know if you have any questions about the boat, I am a broker with Release. Yes we had to work 14 hour days, 7 days a week to get this boat to the show but it will be 100% complete in the next 2 weeks.

The boat is very impressive, if anyone would like to see it or go for a sea trial, just give me a call and it will be arranged, the boat will speak for itself.

What is the history on the guys building at release?

From what I can tell this is hull 1, and for the price tag there may be more proven custom options.

Don't get me wrong the boat is drop dead gorgeous.

I think the backing of release and many of the folks there have history working and owning some of the nicest builders in the industry. Can't remember the names or exact relationship but it was old school and they know their stuff. With that said this is a fishing boat first and made to log some serious hours on the bank or canyon each season. Maybe somebody will chime in that knows the specifics.

Jim Turner who owns Casa Vieja Lodge in Guatemala owns Release boatworks. He owns Merritt's, Rybovich's, Gamefisherman's, etc. He wanted to build a modern version and keep all the best attributes that these boats have become famous for. The designers of the boat have worked for Rybovich for years and the man that built the molds is the same gentleman that built the original 17 aquasport, 28, 31, and 54 Bertram's. It is pretty safe to say that their is a extensive team of builders that have plenty of experience

The 46 starts at about $1 Million with the big QSM 11's. The way that particular one is loaded with electronics, tower, teak toe rail, covering boards, extra fuel, ice makers, watermakers, etc is about $1.3

can you let us know what the bow entry and dead rise amidships are?

Also the 43 is being offered with conventional shafts, will they be in a prop tunnel also as i didn't see one on the website?

Is the 46 offered with conventional shafts as well?

The hardover turn at a good clip was unreel. If you werent holding on you would have been in the drink. And the more video game experience you have the easier it is. No joke! The boat is built by some of the best people in the business to.

I had the pleasure of going on a tour of the factory today in Miami and seeing the finished 46. The experience left me absolutely speechless. The boat was stunning and it's easy to see all of the thought and hard work that went into building her. Fortunately for me, she is heading to NJ so I'll be able to see it often, maybe even get a chance to fish her one of these days. While the 46 is too much boar for our needs, their 43 would fit the bill quite well. Release will definitely be getting a call when we are ready to move up to a bigger boat.

Lol. Sorry I missed your call today. Phone died and just got off the dock. No monster but according to the igfa app Rob has on his phone, that fish I caught off the dock I sent you a pic of may have been an all tackle world record. I gotta stop releasing potential records. I've lost count of them now haha.
To get back on topic, and to be more specific, what I liked about the 46: incredible wiring and fit and finish. The woodwork was amazing. Additionally it has the best layout I've ever seen in a boat. Huge cockpit, fully fisharound, forward baitwells, lots of storage, and ample room to sleep. My dislikes: the main area after you get down the stairs in te cabin was the only place inside that my father and I could stand up straight. I wouldn't mind sacrificing some cabin space to kick out the stairs as well. We're tall and have big feet. Out in rough seas, I could foresee myself taking a fall getting into the cabin. That issue could be easily addressed. The headroom in the cabin is the only factor that could potentially keep us out of a 43 if not the 46 in the next few years. With that being said however, the package is incredible and we liked it enough to potentially overlook this issue. It would not be the first time something along these lines happened.

Nice boat but let's not give them so many props on design. Like was already stated - it is just a bigger Gamefisherman Day Boat.

Click this link below and see Shearline's version just a few feet shorter - look at the 43' Walkaround "Orion" - absolutely sick and done before the Release 46.

I don't care about who does it first, I care about who does it best, an I am sure that I am not the only one who thinks like this. I don't like that shearline's layout at all. Hard to tell from my phone but is that a step on the walkaround to get to the bow? I'd have to see it in person but based on pictures alone, it falls a far second to the release IMO

The 34 Walkaround will run about $400,000 with a Caterpillar or Cummins.

The freeboard isnt super high, it is still low enough to bill and fish, remember this boat was designed to fish first and foremost and most of the input on the layout and features have come from some of the best billfish captains in the world.

They had advertised the 34 for the 2011 Ft. Lauderdale Show, but it never materielised. I too wonder how much longer we have to wait to see one with a single. I need to replace a boat and don't want twins.

Pretty much. This thing was loaded. Don't forget though, the cockpit on this thing is massive, bigger than that of a lot of bigger sportfishers, and you have full fisharound abilities. Priced roughly around that of a Viking 46 Open and IMO, you get a lot more boat. Set it up so that the cabin area, exterior bow is a sun lounge, and you also get one heck of a cruising platform. Fubar, correct me if I'm wrong, but you can get the smaller diesels in the 46 and a few less options and still have a fairly well equipt boat for around the 1 mill mark? Also, if you don't mind entertaining my inquiry, what do you suppose performance numbers are for the smaller engines in the 46? The smaller Zeus package that is.

Fubar261
03-30-2012, 03:12 PM
Bluewater, send me a email and I can reply back to that.

JTharmo, yes that is correct, this boat had a full tower, ice makers, watermakers, teak toe rail, underwater sonar, etc. Pretty much every option except for the teak cockpit.

Boatless, Yes you can put the 600 cummins in there and be much cheaper. I also dont think you would sacrifice that much performance and you would gain room in the engine room. I am not sure about the performance numbers but from what the cummins reps have told us, it will prob be a 3 knot slower boat all around.

Did it survive Sandy?

And what's the deal with the 34's? How much longer do we have to wait for the advertised boat?

We would have bought one at Ft. Lauderdale in 2011 IF you had produced one. Instead, we were forced to buy a Maxweld to replace the Ocean Runner.

Last I heard was that the 46 is in Cape May, NJ. One of my friends knows the owner. I'll ask him if he heard anything about the boat next time I see him.

ghostrider, they had just started building a 34 when I toured the factory, nearly a year ago. They have some pictures of it on their facebook page.

I really wish they'd come out with something to fit between the 34 and 43. A 38 walk around would be perfect. Well, perfect for me at least

Now I'm second guessing myself. I could have sworn that the project was underway but maybe it was just a mold. I went last March and I don't have pics so I can't say for sure.

Guys
I live here in Islamorada the florida keys, at the end of my street sits a brand new 43'. The owner could have bought any boat on the market regardless of it's price tag. I found after being on this boat that he made a great choice, it fits he needs and has his personal touches through out. He has two live wells in the gunnel bow area just aft of the anchor compartment.
