Discussion on M&M this is am is about Eli being "Elite" NFL QB since he has won two SB MVP's versus Peyton only winning one

Just my opinion and even though Eli has won two SuperBowl's along with MVP Honors I still think Peyton is the better QB game in and game out. I think Eli is just in a good situation at NY, much better than being with the Colts.

Still not sure Eli is a HOF candidate yet but he should be by end of career but Peyton will be first ballot HOF'er

Only person I thought would have had a better shot in game Sunday than Brady would have been Peyton. I would almost guarantee he would have had his team score on that last drive, he seems to make those around him play better and step up their game. He would not have been too happy after that first dropped pass on last drive and would have made
sure they caught everything

Comment was made about Marino in this discussion that the one thing that hurts his legacy is NO SUPERBOWL wins, if he had two SB wins Marino would be considered best ever more than likely so Eli does have that in his favor

Eli is simply on a better team. Ive always said the Colts have sucked,I didnt know how bad till this year.Horrible defense with subpar running game.

People dont realize that teams make their QBs sometimes. Does anyone think Sam Bradford sucks that bad?? I would hate to think that I focused my entire life around Football and end up on some career ending team like the Rams!

Brees in the 2nd half is as good or better then any

Peyton is strides ahead of Eli in the elite department at this time imo.

Peyton was always a better QB... He could do it without as much around him... Look how bad the Colts were without him.

Eli has a much better team around him... If Eli was out, the Giants would still be a good team with a backup QB.

That being said, Eli seems to have that hard-to-identify "it" quality of delivering in the clutch. He seems to not lose his cool in the most pressured situations.

We're talking Eli here right the same guy that squeaked into the playoffs with a barely over 500 regular season? Come on. Yes his TEAM has won 2 super Bowls but come on better than Peyton. As a Pats fan I do not like Peyton but he is an incredible QB. Eli has been very fortunate to have a great coach in TC and is surrounded but very talented athletes.
Eli is good. That pass to Manningham was right where it needed to be. BUT Eli has to have a few more seasons to prove himself as an elite QB.

Always thought he was THE offensive coordinator of the Colts, just a head coach with helmet on instead of headphones

YES HE IS - Right NOW Payton is still hurt, lacks strength in his throwing arm. :o New reports are negative about next year for him ?

There's been plenty of speculation about where Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning (http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2012-02-09/reports-mannings-arm-lacks-zip-and-strength?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D134542#) will play in the 2012 season. But the bigger question is becoming when will Manning be able to play after missing the 2011 campaign?
The biggest concern regarding Manning’s health following a season lost to a neck injury is simple: Can he still throw the ball effectively?
According to NFL Network (http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2012-02-09/reports-mannings-arm-lacks-zip-and-strength?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl2%7Csec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D134542#) analyst Michael Lombardi, because of the recovery time needed from multiple surgeries, Manning's arm lacks the necessary zip and strength.
"He can't throw the ball," Lombardi said, as a guest on ESPN's “The B.S. Report with Bill Simmons.” "I've talked to people who've caught the ball for him. He can't throw the ball to his left. He can't throw the ball across his body, because he doesn't feel it. People that catch the ball for him say he doesn't really have velocity on the ball yet."

Not that I like either prima donna manning but if you gave Peyton the defense Elisha has had then the elder manning has 4 or 5 SB victories. Same goes for Brady who's defense has sucked since 2006.

How soon we forget. During Indy's stretch of good seasons they had some very strong weapons on both sides of the ball. For the most part, Peyton had some less than stellar performances in some big playoff games. And he had Marvin Harrison and Dallas Clark to throw to.

Put up all the numbers you want in the regular season, but who can come through when the pressure is on. Thats when the cream rises to the top.

Plus look at his record outside of Domes and away from home, not Hall of Fame numbers. Dont get me wrong, his entire body of work gets him in the Hall but he's not the best ever. His numbers are very good overall but Eli is gaining on him

Agreed Eli's playoff performances speak for themself. Obviously that is what counts but his regular season numbers are mediocre. Like I said he has had the privilege of a dominant defense for most of his career. This year their numbers were down but we all know they were pretty darn good. I still think his brother would have had several SB victories if given the NY defense. You can talk all ya want about Sanders and how the Colts D was good at times but there is no comparison in the last 6 years to NY's D. Again....same goes for Brady and what his defense has looked like since 2006. I just can't understand why NE can't get back to the defense they had in their 2001-2005 days. Looks like they might be moving in that direction though. cheers.
