Dang, it hasn't been too long since VISA sent me a card that's blue. Now I get an invite to join the party of their BLACK card.
According to their invite, that places me in the top 1% of US residents. WTH???:o:o I'd need a few more zeroes in my net worth to get to that level...so quit stroking me, Visa.
The thing that caught my eye was that.......for this privilege....I get to shell out $500 for my card and another $200 for the admiral's card. $700/year, and for what?
Seriously, for those of you that do a lot of internation travel, or a lot of business in different cities, is this Concierge Assistant worth it ? (would you have the card if you had to pay that fee out of pocket?)
Oh, it's made of Carbon, too! wow, that's as important to me as the 1% BS. Maybe I'll spray paint the sapphire card and people with think I'm rich!
Wow can actually justify paying money for a VISA card? ;?

Ever since the smack has been laid down on the rogue financial institutions, they have been looking for fresh meat.
Put a roofing shingle and tea bag into the prepaid envelope and mail it back to them.

It's Visa's way of trying to create an upscale card like Amex. I got the invite, too, awhile back and trashed it. There are plenty of dolts out there that will pay top dollar to have one as a status symbol. You know, casually flip it out at the bar when you ask to buy her a drink and start a tab. Oh, look at me and how important I am!!
As for the Concierge Assistant, well... I'm not Mr. International Traveler by any means. I could see value in it if I traveled a lot, but otherwise, why would I let someone else screw up my reservations when I'm perfectly capable of doing that myself?

I know a buddy or two that would pay for it if they got that letter in the mail. They have good jobs no assets and wouldn't think twice spending $500/year to look impressive paying a bar tab. I think that is more their target audience!!!

I got a solicitation for one a few years ago, I tore it up. Good to find out I'm not too stupid.
I wonder how many they sell each year? I can't imagine it's too many, maybe. Seems like a catch 22. The people that are solicited are generally arrogant enough to want one yet successful enough not to care what others think. How many qualifiers for the card actually have low self esteem?
Now that I think about it, my wife has an uncle who probably bought 2 (one for his wife). He is a master at turning any conversation around to make you ask about something expensive he recently acquired. Pisses him off royally when I don't bite.

I can't speak about the Visa black, by AMEX Platinum gets me a 2 for 1 deals on International Business Class tickets. Price a Business class from here to Tokyo, you'll pay on the order of 9 grand for one.
I gets mees two.
So you can call me an arrogant prick (not hard to do, I know:grin:) whenever I whip out the shiny card, but I'm really a savvy money manager.

There is nothing wrong with amusing yourself. It's your touching yourself that has us feeling a little uneasy. <insert big-assed green grin here>

Yep dont waste your money on the visa black. Really the only two you would need cost roughly the same - AMEX platinum or JPMorgan Palladium. Even the AMEX black is overrated vs. price compared to the JP morgan card. Visa black is expensive and has few real-world benefits. Also remember that 1% of America's population is something around 3 million people.

I get business class upgrades overseas for free but I travel WAY too much. I just had a guy I know tell me he got the black card and he was pretty excited about it :bashhh: He doesn't travel at all either. I guess he just wants to throw away cash and try to impress people. Crazy if you ask me.

JPMorgan Palladium.
Wow! That's all I can say. Details here (http://creditcardforum.com/blog/jp-morgan-palladium-card-benefits/). Pretty darned exclusive; won't see one in my lifetime, unless ol' Powerball blesses me financially!

My MC card is black to, I hope I'm not paying extra for it. Much more impressive but not necessarily safer to pull out a wad of cash.

I use an AMEX Corp Platinum Card. Perks are great (airport lounges, 2 for 1 tix deals, other travel stuff) and the concierge svc. is worthwhile also. Good card to have.

Rich people don't carry around credit cards, they carry around staff that use their cards to pay the bills. You people are so pedestrian.

X2 and they throw in a $200 baggage fee credit with the airlines. If you use your amex miles to pay for travel they put 20% back after the trip is completed. Lots of perks you may or may not need.

Whenever I hear of a black credit card I think of the Nickelback song "Shakin hands"
"So many Five Star friends with black credit cards"
Funny lyrics! :)

I have a black mastercard and never thought anything about it as it is just a regular card. I was at dinner one night with a group of acquaintances and they all wanted to look at it like it was some amazing feat to have a black card. I still don't get it.
If I recall correctly the Visa Black thing is a scam - it isn't actually a "special" card like the real black ones - it is simply a card named - you guessed it - "Visa Black".
Great marketing though.

Lots of them out there, my BOA Visa is black and has a few benies, but nothing like an AMEX card. Of course, mine doesn't cost anything either. Real BLACK cards have no limits, the Visa's are just a color change since everyone already had a platinum card when the gold cards got too common.

I fly a lot and am loyal to Continental/United. I use the Continental Presidential card to get miles, no baggage fee's. I get a Platium traveler card from Continental and the deals they throw at me is worth every cent.

The AMEX Centurion Card is the only one with real juice. It's the Real Deal.
http://openoffshorebankaccountfornonresidentsonline.com/images/american-express-titanium-black-card.jpg
Visa is trying to rip off the Centurion reputation without giving any real bennies like the Centurion.
Flash the Centurion at any Lambo Dealer and you and an extended test drive are coming.
Same at Honda Jet, Citation etc.
The Black Visa will get you no place.

Yeah, but is it made out of anodized titanium like the AMX black card, or is it just another piece of stupid plastic? :roll

Take it from experience, Eyeball, you're better off with plastic cards. Those dumb titanium, platinum and unobtanium cards just plain bend when used to open doors...they're useless for anything except spending money.

Haha well its made out of pure palladium worth more than the annual fee itself! But seriously, its a very heavy thick metal card. Not like that rinkadink centurion. Cell phones get lighter and smaller/credit cards get thicker and heavier
