Ok, so this weekend, thinking of tackling the replacement of Water pump Impeller's.
Done this on my old OMC Seadrive V4 motor a couple of times. Was a job on that one due to the location of the shift linkage under the powerhead, but was able to do successfully. So have some experience here.

However, being that Yamaha is different and these are V6 gearcases, just want to know of any warnings before I leap in and screw something up.

I don't see in the manual anything clear about the shift linkage disconnection. So think the lower unit will just unbolt and slide off? Then just ensure the shift is in neutral coming out and then for going back in?

What else do I need to know? Appreciate your advise/experience here as always! ;)

THere is no shift linkage to disconnect.

The F225 is the same exact water pump assy. The lower unit removal is slightly different, but close.

Thanks Andy! This is one of the best documents I have ever seen. Almost felt like it was done after I got to the end! Much appreciated!
Especially like 2 things: The Yamaha Inspector sitting on the John Deere, and the Black and Decker workhorse that I get to use mine finally for something! SIM RULES!
