Boat has original navnet with nmea 0183 output to the smartcraft speedo. Gps speed is intermittent on the speedo. I know what sentences need to be turned on thanks to glen on verado ckub and the gps antenna needs its own sentences as well. If you have too many sentences turned on that are not needed will it clog up the system or not really? The nmea is only sending gps out to the smartcraft and the vhf but its happening without the vhf on. Thinking the speedo is on the fritz since its 8 years old and I had the same issue on the fountain with the speedo working when it wanted to. I can see the waypoint screen sometimes as well. Anyway to test the nmea signal? Should be 3 to 5 volts I assume? I have the gps speed turned on in the cal 2 menu on the smartcraft.

Yep. Everything from ur article I made sure it was on. Turned the output destination on for the nmea output as well. Also it seemed to work better when running then when idling.

I am under the assumption that my speedo blows. redid the electronics with all new garmin and the speedo still does it. in and out. Last i talked to merc they mentioned they may have a black box version nmea2k so you can use smartcraft gauges still. probably wait till that comes out to do anything.
