I am so sick of hearing that for the last 8 weeks said about Aaron Rodgers! He is certainly one of the best for sure, but stats and "well roundedness" don't mean squat, you got to win.
(don't pounce on me I am not blaming him for the loss)
As someone who cheers for a team that had the best regular season ever in the NFL and lost the big game I can honestly say it is all B.S. if you don't win out and bring home that trophy!
Great weekend of football, can't wait for the championship games!

They should thank the Giants. Spared them the throttling the 49ers would have gave them next.
Tired of all the mythical QB of the week calls on defensive players. These guys practice week in and week out to get fined and called on the carpet.
5000 yd season are a joke. The league and their no fly (helmet to helmet) artificially allows these QBs to rack up stats.

Fact of the matter is the Patriots do not have 3 SB's due to cheating. Period.
I was one of Brady's fans being from Michigan however the hoodie cheated and that is the fact of the matter.

I've been a Giants fan all my life, but I am in no way a fanatic. So, obviously I was rooting for the Giants today and they did a good job.
The Packers on the other hand, played terrible. There were so many unforced errors by just about everyone on the whole team, you've got to wonder where their heads were and how much did the death of the offensive coordinator's son weigh on their minds. I really thought that they would play much better. Bad play is contagious and it gets into the collective mind of the team.
Go Giants! I hope it will be the Patriots and the Giants in the Super Bowl Feb 5 th.

I wonder if that loss to the Giants cost Rodgers the MVP?Pac looked rusty, their d is even worse than the Pats.To me thats why I think Rodgers/Brady are dead even for offensive MVPs.I think Bill/Brady are up for the Ravens.Looks like Ed Reed might not be up for the party,oh well:)

My intention with this thread was not to have a pi$$1ng match about who's Q.B. is best.
I am tired of the NFL and their network, ESPN and all the other sports writers/reporters annointing someone "the best".
Tom Brady got it in '07 and lost, and this year it was Rodgers and he lost. Eli played like his brother today smart, efficient and effective I honestly did not know he had that poise in him.
Not sure if Flacco has it or not and Smith just might be able to right the coat tales of that defense, not to take anything away from that incredible fourth quarter he had.
Should be an exciting finale!

If this season did not prove that Peyton Manning is MVP, I must be blind. There is a lot of good teams that if they lost their star quarterback could still have decent success. (Think when Brady was hurt and Matt Cassell came in and won games, Think Matt Flynn came in to replace Rogers and managed to win.) Peyton Manning gets hurt and the team has to fire everyone on the management team and considering firing a Super Bowl winning coach. I think this season can put all speculation to rest.
BTW, sorry to add to the pissing contest. No I'm not a diehard Peyton Manning fan nor a Colts fan, I'm actually a Bucs fan.

Tebow being the best QB????? You must be on crack. Look at the lost of Payton Manning turned the Colts in to! I am so sick of the Tebow hype I don't think I would have watched the SB this year if he was in it. I will tell you what he IS best at....getting more hype than any other player in history. The ONLY impressive game I would say he was responsible for winning was beating my team the Steeler's. I don't think he has ever had a QB rating higher than 72.
Look at how many games New England won when terrific Tom blew his knee. A single person should not have that much impact on your team. New England proved to be a good team even without Brady. As much as I dislike Tom Brady, I have to admit he is probably the best QB in the NFL. I think Rodgers is #2, and Roethlisberger #3.
Feel free to rip me, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

He would have credit if he played outside. Same with Peyton. They are great but have the advantage of perfect conditions with perfect footing at least 8 times a year.
Today the best two are Eli and Brady as they demonstrated what has to be done this time of year. Brees and Rodgers didn't. Brees because of lack of familarity of weather/wind and Rodgers for lack of sharpness.
The coach'es son had an effect but the pack took a page ot of the colts playbook and the rust that has shown for Indy/Peyton also showed up for Rodgers/pack. High throws less than crisp breaks on the route's that is from sitting and coasting the last game imho.

Brady's the best, Peyton has been a slight second fiddle to him , Rodgers probably will be the best soon. Bree's stats are padded from the dome and he doesn't protect the ball like Brady and Rodgers, he's still amazing. Brady's 07' season still is the best all around qb'ing season. Brady has always done the most with the least, you can't say that for Peyton, Rodgers, Brees.

In case everyone missed it...Brady is the best QB in the NFL and he proved it once again. I am not a Patriots fan at all, however the way he has played for 10 years is amazing. 3 rings and he embarrasses defenses almost every week. Maybe I have been watching a different game???
To the people who cry about cheating, stealing signals is apart of every game, has been for years. Each team has scouts that film their opponents, players switch teams etc... Hello.....

You are joking right!
It is illegal to film the opponents sidelines. If you are the QB of a pretty decent team and you already know what the defense is going to do before the snap that would be called cheating.
That is not crying that is called cheating and hence why the NFL and the rest of the football world followed the allegations which were deemed to have happened.

Not correct it is illegal to film from the sidelines. They can film from any other area designated still today. This is why they the coaches cover their mouth when calling plays..
Other teams were doing the =same thing. before the memo at the start of the season.
You don't hear about the 49ers cheating the salary cap to keep thier team superbowl runs together yet it happened. Caused Debartolo to have to sell that team.

No argument just stating the facts. I hate the fact that Bonds cheated Aaron as well.
The focus was on NE and that is all that matters. Its the same as your kid saying everyone else does it.
I have no dog in the fight except when the homers deny it.

Well, it's sort of a wash, since there's "cheating" on every team in the NFL every Sunday...
-Almost every coach tried to "steal" defensive signals, just like Belichick. They used binoculars and radio communication, not a video camera, but same thing. (And apparently a bunch used video, but didn't get caught.) The hand signals are in the open for everyone to see. The NFL finally got rid of this type of open signal calling.
-Untold amounts of players are on HGH and Steroids... apparently the Pittsburgh Steelers are a veritable Steroid factory, and always have been.
-Every Sunday, teams commit illegal penalties that don't get called... The NY Giants were able to steal what should have been the Patriots 4th Super Bowl away due to some of the most egregious offensive holding I've ever seen -- in particular on Mannings "miracle" pass ...
BTW, after the Pats had the video cameras taken away -- they won the most games in a row in NFL history. 18. And Brady threw the most TD's. 50. So, clearly the signal stealing had almost zero impact.

QB Rating is meaningless. Have you ever looked at how it's calculated? Forget that non-sense. Even if you believe in it, it's not just measureing a QB, it's measuring the rest of the team in the mix. If you have no recievers, you won't have good stats, if you have no O-line, you will get sacked and have few long plays..... Does that mean yoru not a good QB? Course not. Brady has had the luxury of one of the best O-lines in history. The O-line should be talked about, NOT pretty boy who can't get out of his own way.
Last I checked Brady still held the record (50 TD's). Yards don't always equal points on the scoreboard.
1.Brady, Manning
2. Brees, Rodgers, Rothlesburger
3. Manning
Everyone else on down.
Straps,
Which Manning goes where? P.Manning or E.Manning?
QB Rankings go like THIS:
1. Brees
2. P.Manning (as he WAS! How soon we all forget!)
3. Rothlesburger (has done more with little than anyone in history)
4. E.Manning (he's better than most people think)
5. Rodgers (because he can run, athletic)
6. Rivers (because he is athletic, and has had NO HELP!)
7. Pretty boy (becasue he can't get out his own way)

Magua,
You hit the nail on the head!! And the below, is EXACTLY why the cheatriot fans are so defensive.... There is a HUGE asterisk on all 3 of their Superbowls. So much so, that the Rooneys, Mara's and Colts ownership contemplated leaving the league when the NFL decided not to do anything but fine them a few million dollars over it. What the Patsey fans don't understand is, Spygate was the END of the spying, the beginning of it was a few years prior when both the Steelers and Colts herd Patriots linebackers shouting out Steeler and Colt PLAYS and TERMINOLOGY which was only designed and put into place during the prior week of practice. The grievance was filed and acknowledged by the NFL, and squashed because they did not want it getting out publicly. Well, it got out.
They cheated, and they are cheated again by hiring a coach that coached another team they were playing last week. The rules committee has already confirmed that rule will be CLEARLY stated going forward. Right now it's a grey area. I'm 100% sure NFL people were asked NOT to discuss the couching issue. Notice how tat got squashed early in the week after first being discussed intently on NFL channel ??

Don't piss and whine cus he plays inside...Peyton Manning plays inside, and half of the guys on here kiss his ass on the regular...Brees played for a few years outside at SD and was still GREAT...an athlete like that would adapt to his environment....give him the practice time outside and he would still shine like a new penny...Not really my beef. You and others talk about Brees breaking Marinos record,I said before if Marino played 8-10 games indoors nobody would be near his numbers.I still think a qb in a dome has a huge advantage over ones that dont, you really dont?REALLY.The people who vote on MVP clearly think so.

Funny, I just got in the car and turned on WFAN (sports radio show). They are discussing the CHEATRIOTS cheating in the Superbowl VS the St. Louis Rams. The host was saying he had separate personal conversations with Kurt Warner, Marshal Faulk and Mike Martz. All said they are 100% sure and had proof of it, that the Cheatriots cheated leading up the SB. All 3 said it was all swept under the rug by the NFL for the obvious fear of the repercussions. Warner and Faulk said they had been keeping their mouths shut because they were both on Hall of Fame ballets, and did not want that to interfere...
Can't make this sh____t up!!!!! I was stunnned to turn on the radio and hear the conversastion.... Amazing.

Birdboy, you sound like the guy whose bitter his neighbor made a lot of money in the stock market and think "it's not fair, he must have cheated..."
Get a life.
BTW, ask yourself, how did the Patriots win a record 18 games in a row -- immediately AFTER the video taping was taken away from them? In that same span of games -- AFTER Spygate -- Brady passed for 50 TD's, the most in NFL history in a season... Clearly, trying to decipher opponents signals (which every team did btw, just with binocular and radios) doesn't mean much...
As for those Rams supposedly saying that -- that's a bunch of sour grapes/BS. That Rams team didn't have a good defense, anyway, and was lucky not to get their ass kicked by more points.

The Patriots beat the Giants handily during that regular season... And would have beaten them 9 out of 10 times that year. Any given Sunday... and some cheating by the Giants led to that.
That's right, the Giants cheated in that game and that Super Bowl is tainted and deserves an asterisk.
The Pats lost that Super Bowl the entire G-Men offensive line was holding on that final prayer Eli hucked up in the air -- an illegal infraction far worse than anything you're talking about. That game was over right there. And we're talking about a Championship. It was flagrant. And The refs didn't call it for unknown reasons. Paid off? Who knows...
It must hurt, for you to know the Giants didn't deserve that Super Bowl. Rest assured, they won't win it again this year.

You guys with your cheating BS are really going overboard. I will say this ONE time. EVERY team is looking at WHATEVER advantage they can get and when they find it they will use it.
Don't even talk about holding as cheating because then you sound stupid. From Pop Warner pee wee football all the way to the NFL holding COULD be called on EVERY play. The score is what it is at the end of the game and ALL of you need to deal with it!!!

1.Hater (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hater&defid=32643)
A person who feels anger and/or jealousy for someone who has succeeded in something they have worked hard for.
A being who speaks badly,and/or takes negative actions in attempt to create problems for a successful person.
When you make it out the hood,a friend can turn into a hater.
"Birdman/magua" dropped a dime on "Big Mike" just because Big Mike was makin some change! Birdman/magua a hater!
2. Hater (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hater&defid=32643)
A person that simply cannot be happy for another person's success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.
Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesnt really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock somelse down a notch.
Susan: You know, Kevin from accounting is doing very well. He just bought a house in a very nice part of town.
Birdman/magua (hater): If he is doing so well why does he drive that '89 Taurus?

No, they didn't cheat... not according to the NFL. He was essentially guilty of being stubborn...
Many coaches were doing the same thing and the Commissioner wanted it to stop -- and sent out a letter warning coaches. Most of the them stopped, but not Bill.
There are no "asterisks" here -- the commissioner fined the Pats and took away a draft pick, a punishment for not listening. Sort of like when you ask your kid several times to stop doing something and he doesn't listen to you. The punishment is for not listening.
The defensive signals weren't some secretive thing, as the un-informed public believes. These signals were out in the open, and just about every team tried to decipher them -- with binoculars, etc. Bill used video tape -- not to view during the game, but to study later. Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson said he tried this -- since many coaches were doing it -- and it didn't offer him any advantage, so he stopped.
Again, if the video tapes offered anything, how did the Patriots win a record 18 games in a row AFTER they were take away?
The "cheatriots" rhetoric comes from jealousy, plain and simple. It's like the guy who envies another dude's hot girlfriend or successful career -- and this chump thinks "hey, that's not fair!"
You know what, life isn't fair.
Get over it.

Ward, Bettis, will be in the hall of fame, and Holmes and Miller were both very good players. The offensive line fore Pittsburg has always been good as well. To say he has done more with little than anyone in histrory is far from accurate. Rothlesburger wasn't even the MVP of the two Superbowls they won. Brady at least was MVP 2 out of the 3 they won. Do you forget the people P. Manning has had for recievers and the o-line he has had over the years? He can't get out of his own way either but you put him at #2? All the QB's have wide receivers and RB's. The difference between a HOF'er skill player and a regular one is almost nothing today. Those are not going to make the difference of a QB's career. On the other hand, the so called non-skilled" players make a HUGE difference, both on a QB's career and #'s, and the difference between a HOF'er and a regular one is HUGE.
Example, you and me can play in a NFL game, and probably catch 9 out of 10 balls thrown to us by the QB. We could get open, we could go deep, we could take a Welker type 3 yard bullet on the inside and keep running for a few more yards. Sure, we would then get clobbered, and it would hurt, and we might be dragged off the field afterwards in a few pieces.... but we could do it. Now lets see either of us line up on the line of scrimmage and try blocking Lamar Woodly, James Harrison, Brett Keisel or Casey Hampton. I'd bet all your money, they would run through us as if we were not even standing there. Given our 1 chance and a 100% effort at it, we would not even slow any of them down enough to even measure the difference between us being there "trying" to block them, or them going completely un-blocked.
So when I say Big Ben has done more with nothing, I'm talking about un-skilled players. He snapped the ball, and was running for his life from the get-go all season, and still won 14 games with nothing but his "ATHLETIC" ability.
Brady on the other hand, has lost EVERY SINGLE GAME of his career where he was pressured. He has never won a game, with his athleticism. And I'm of course referring to his abilities OTHER than throwing arm. He has an amazing throwing arm, we all know that. But un-fortunately, that is all he has. That's why he is called the "One Trick Pony" around the league.

I was one of Brady's fans being from Michigan however the hoodie cheated and that is the fact of the matter.
3 SB wins by 3 points EACH! CHEATED,CHEATED,CHEATED They either did (cheat) or they are lying as the saying goes.

And I'm of course referring to his abilities OTHER than throwing arm. He has an amazing throwing arm, we all know that. But un-fortunately, that is all he has. That's why he is called the "One Trick Pony" around the league.hes a quarterback not a running back.still the best around.and hes still playin, not rapeisburger

You just keep trying to believe that!! The problem you have is, even if you actually do, your the only one that does.

Funny Brady has the highest completion rate among qbs while under the blitz.
Not one passer can deal with pressure up the middle and be effective becaue they cannot get there body into the throw. Big ben's best 2 seasons statisticly were when he was banged up and could not play schoolyard. You cannot go through your reads while running for your life. Your reciever must come to your vision. It's a focus issue in all humans ie tunnel vision. You just killed your own arguement. This is why coaches who understand the game look for a pocket passer. It shows self confidence to trust what they have been taught. Guys that run like a chicken without a head lack that level of confidence. This shows up in poor decision making off the field like dating high schoolers (sancise:rofl: hope they keep him) or crashing your motorcycle without a brain bucket. Think about that a multimillion dollar career riding without a helmet. Shows a lack of intelect that transforms on the field. He has a great set of physical tools but not enough grey matter to use them to the utmost.

Just looked up the rushing stats for Brady and Big Ben. All that running Big Ben did got him a total of 70yds 0 TD, Brady had 109 yds and 3 TD. One trick pony out rushed Ben by 39 yds and 3 TD's
Huh? Who mentioned anything about a QB RUSHING?? Are you confusing a conversation about Vick, or Teabow? We are talking about getting away from pressure. Ben smartly doesn't run, he keeps his eyes down-field and makes huge plays when getting pressured. Brady falls down before they hit him.
No wonder you think Big Ben is great you just make up the stats as you go along. Steelers won 12 games this year. You still haven't answered why you have P. Manning at #2. He can't run at all either and when pressured he losses as well? Try using the same standards for everyone at least.
Payton reads the d-fense before snapping the ball better than anyone who has ever played the game. He throws the ball before the pressure arrives. That is something Brady is pretty good at as well. But not anywhere near Peyton.
You think Ben is going to be in the Hall of Fame before and as much as a lock as Brady then you have a lot less brain cells than I already thought..Birdy I ,know you have nothing to do because you have no kids or a team in the hunt ,why dont you go wax your props or wash your bilge.
huh??? HOF? Where did that conversation come from?
But yes, Big Ben will be in the HOF. Brady might be, with an asterisk next to it of course.

magua, you seem very worked up about the whole "spygate" thing. Nobody else seems to care. The Patriots paid their fine and moved on. It was pretty widely known that everyone did it, the league just chose to make an example of Belicheck and the Patriots. No asterisk required. Time for you to move on, everyone else has.
Very well put gf......everyone did it....Bill got caught. An asterisk next to New England's THREE superbowls? Are you sh%^ttin' me? Unreal...unfriggin real to even suggest that. You could literally 'google' every championship win by any team you are biased against and find your 'own reason' to put an asterisk next to their win. This whole discussion is simply about JEALOUSY...and HATRED of the successful team that is the New England Patriots.
Brady is approaching 'best qb ever' status. There is no doubt about that.
IMHO..I think Ben the Rapist should have an asterisk on his 'unit'......and it should read 'stop raping the hostesses in Lake Tahoe' !
and then there's the "Tuck Rule" game . ;)

Correct call -- called by the book. (Unlike the Ben Dreith call in 1976.)
Again, more sour grapes.
Not sour grapes for me, I'm not a Raider Fan. Just remember the game !
Walt Coleman did not know that rule, but used it to cover his ass afterwards. If it happened again, it would be a fumble. What's just as bad, the Raiders coach "Chucky" called a timeout, allowing the Pats to clear a spot foe Vinatieri
to kick a field goal !!!
Greg Biekert (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Biekert) dove on the ball, and was initially credited with a recovered fumble. In 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_National_Football_League_season), though, a new rule had been introduced, which eventually became known as the tuck rule (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuck_rule):
NFL Rule 3, Section 22, Article 2, Note 2. When [an offensive] player is holding the ball to pass it forward, any intentional forward movement of his arm starts a forward pass, even if the player loses possession of the ball as he is attempting to tuck it back toward his body. Also, if the player has tucked the ball into his body and then loses possession, it is a fumble.[6] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuck_Rule_Game#cite_note-5)
After instant replay, referee Walt Coleman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walt_Coleman) reversed this call, declared the play an incomplete forward pass, and gave possession back to New England. In explaining the reversal to the stadium crowd and the television audience, the referee stated that the ball was moving forward at the time it was dropped. In later interviews, the referee stated that it was his explanation, not the reversal, that was in error; the ball was moving backwards when it was lost, but the tuck rule applied. Thus, the original call was overturned, and New England maintained possession.
Coleman didn't have a clue ;?
But it was a very exciting game

If it happened again, it would be a fumble.
Not true -- I've seen that exact same correct call a bunch of times since. Most Patriots fans new his call was correct at the time, because the new (at the time) "tuck rule" had been called against them in a Jets game earlier in the season.
Again, more disinformation about the Patriots.
You may not like the rule -- that used to be considered a fumble. But again it was called correctly.

The "tuck rule" play wouldn't of surprised me if the call wasn't reversed, but seeing it slow-motion I think it was the right call. Imho they could have called in the grasp on Eli on the "tyree catch", but I think that was the right non-call. Thems is the breaks.

They should have called holding (there were multiple holds by the Giants line on that play). Game over. Pats win their 4th Super Bowl.
But, like you say, them is the breaks.

Because he has to play the Raven's twice every year:grin:
Hopefully T Sizzle has some fun with Brady today!!!

Same applies to Brady! The thing I admire about Eli Manning is that he won't even have a conversation about personal stats....it's all about his team winning and it shows. They've been junk-yard dogs in the play-offs.
You were absolutely right about the championship games...they were awesome.
This Superbowl will be one of the greats!

I think any team with Curtis Painter as the QB would have a hard time winning.

If Brady wins again on Sunday -- like it or not -- he'll start to get into the argument as greatest QB of all-time.

To start with I a NY Jet fan, and therefore by definition I am a NE Patriot Hater, but I will give the following:
-Stealing signals has been around in both football and baseball longer than many of us have been around, I give the Patriots a pass on that one
-I am appalled that there haven't been any votes for Mark Sanchez as the best QB in the game this season.
-That being said, as a Patriot hater, I still vote for Tom Brady as the best in the game this season.

He'll still be in the argument with a loss, definitely not as strong an argument though. The guy's gone to the SB almost half his career, the last two times with an old defense and now a smoke in mirrors defense, gimmicky running game, and no deep threat.
