Just bought this boat...does anyone know anything about Blue Fins? I sea trialed it in some pretty nasty conditions and it handled better than any other boat in this size range that I have ever owned. It has a stepped hull and a 10' beam with tons of flare at the bow. It has a Volvo Penta 370 HP diesel engine..should just sip on fuel but I don't have exact numbers yet. At 3000 RPMs I was doing 28.5 knots. Anyone have any estimates on what kind of fuel numbers I am getting here? This is my first diesel..

They had a lifetime hull warranty but I am not sure if they are still honoring it. Probably something I should have looked into before I bought the boat.

you can get the prop curves (fuel burn) info on the vovlo penta website. Just need to know the model of the motor. It may not be 100% but it should be close.

You are right, they are a very good rough water boat, the owner of Bluefin leased one to a friend of mine for a Summer while he was re-doing a boat he purchased. My friend has had some serious boats and was impressed with the fuel burn and ride of the boat.

What year is it? I think you are better off with an 08 or older.

Nice looking rig. I'd love to have something like that. What's a rig like that run on the used market?

Thanks everyone...

It's an 05 and BUC values it at $90k.. NADA at about $80k..I bought it from the bank so I paid no where close to that much...I'm going to check out the fuel numbers right now. The hull doesn't really need to be awl-gripped but the original owner screwed rubber strips on the starboard side of the hull and it looks ridiculous. I don't think I'll ever be able to match the gelcoat after removing them so I am thinking about going with another color all together. The top of the hardtop is also red and I have the 48 mile Furuno open array up there but I had to take it down to get it into the shop. Any ideas on a color? Pursuit has this really nice maroon that I like.

Are you just going to let your new toy sit on a cinderblock like that?

I'm pretty sure they went out of business so i'm not sure the warrenty would mean anything. I could be wrong as I read it on here somewhere.

You need to get her properly blocked and supported. Additional stands and wooden blocks,

besides that they are an aewsome loooking rig. Any other pictures?

It's not so much that the boat shouldn't contact the cinderblock, it's that the blocks can break. Happens everyone in a while. Such a sweet looking hull. Looks like she could take some serious waves. Good luck with her.

true that would be pretty awful..hopefully once I get a few more stands it will take a lot of pressure off of that block.

I don't know but they are so ugly I need to get them off it's a shame they screwed them in.

With enough West System you will be able to make them go away. You are going to have to grind each hole to give the resin something to bite on and then a nice couple coats of Awl Grip.

I looked up some other Bluefins and noticed that they have dual rudders. My guess is that dual rudders would allow for more sentivity at the wheel. My questions is, would it allow the boat to stear strait in reverse opposed to pulling to the port?

Bluefins are/were made in Bristol RI - I've been on an Islander at boat shows - pretty sweet rig. Contact Harry Turner at Obsession boats in Falmouth, MA - +1 (508) 540-0877 He built that boat I believe. Nice score.

yes they are there for pulling pots. Keeps the pots from hitting the hull. You should keep them on if you plan on hauling pots or anything over the side.

I will probably never pull a single pot over the side of this boat so most likely I am going to pull them off, have a professional fix the gel-coat, and then awl grip the entire hull.

Thanks kitebuz I will give him a call Monday hopefully they are still in business.

This one has dual rudders and then a line cutter... It still pulls to the port in reverse but not nearly as bad as other inboards that I have had (only wakeboard boats).
