I like to fish in the bay area around the South Carolina and Georgia coast.
My Hummingbird 597ci HD Combo is preloaded with the Navionics HotMaps and has a MSD slot for a additional memory card.
Is the Navionics Gold USA Fish'N Chip East the right choice or are there some others that would be better for the bay area? What about the NAVIONICS USA EAST- MSD/16XG-3, is this a different card?
One more question: What about all other cards sold on the net, are they copies of name brand chips? Can you download them to the computer and then burn to a chip?
YES – there are hundreds of pages/ads on the Internet, the more I read the less I know…
Thanks for your help - santurinos
Navionics 1XG. Covers entire US coastline including Hawaii and Alaska and northern Bahamas will give you detail of areas. If you just want the Fish N Chip,Navionics Fish-E USA Fish'N Chip East.
The 597 should be loaded with UniMap. Hot Maps is a Lake chart.
UniMap is a marine chart, but I think the Navionics card will give you greater detail.
Hope this didn't make you more confused.

Thank you for the fast response!
YES - you're right, it came with the UniMap. I have not even used the new toys now - I am still preparing...
Our new (used) Tracker PRO V17 boat is still in the shop, new carpets, new down-riggers, new anchor, new batteries, new lights, new whatever.
My wife is packing (everything except the life west), don't know the reason...
Have a nice day - santurinos
Hook up the 597 to a 12v battery, and see if the UniMap is good enough detail for you.
If not, go for the chip.

Thank you again, great to have your help!
YES - I have it hooked up already, it's working fine. BUT... I live in the country, all I can see is my driveway and the roads leading to it.
It may take another 2 or 3 weeks to have my Tracker on the water. I always try to be prepared a bit ahead of time (and try to kill the boring time in the cold weather...) and spend some time on the NET at the moment.
Thank you - santurinos
Zoom out, and then scroll the cursor over water, then zoom back in.
