...important anyway.

Those in the Baltimore area that may be a fan of talk radio may have already heard that Ron Smith, "The Voice of Reason" past away last night from pancreatic cancer.

I have listened to him since 1985, when he started in "Talk Radio".
I was a field superintendent and was on the local roads a lot going from job to job.
The same old crap on FM got boring real fast so I went to WBAL and WCBM an I have listened to Ron ever since.

Simply put, the man was brilliant!

He will be missed.

R.I.P. Ron.
Prayers to his family.

Ron was an early pioneer of conservative talk radio and never went to the hyperbole and bullsh!t levels that so many did.

I liked his views and when he disagreed he did it with class and respect.

Classy, classy guy. He is irreplaceable.

Ron went to Dr. Blaker, a chiropractor my wife worked for for 15 years.
We were in the corridor of the WBAL, WIYY studios on a field trip with a youth group my wife belongs to, Jobs Daughters, at 6PM one evening when he finished his show.
He came out and gave my wife a big hug and we talked for some time there.
He is/was so genuine.
I wish his family, friends and fans all the best.

I'll miss him.

He had the rare quality of being respected even by those who disagreed with him, in no small measure because he always spoke what was on his mind without worrying about the consequences.

They often asked him to run for office. He reply was always, "To be elected, you have to give up everything there is about being a man, no thanks."

Another famous quote he had was, "If voting mattered, they wouldn't let you do it."

I totally agree Jeff. Thanks for posting.

PS - let's go fishing. The yellow perch should be schooling up and good biting in the upper bay soon.
