Have a fairly new Baystar hydraulic steering system on my flats boat. the other day coming in i started to lose steering. The cylinder at the motor is leaking because the chrome is coming off the slide rod causing the seals to leak. ANyone else had this problem? i think i am out of the 1 year warranty, but will look for the receipt tonight. Seems pretty crappy to only get 1-2 years out of this. looks like it will cost me $350 or so for a new cylinder and will miss a week or so of trout season :banghead:

try washing it with soap and water after each trip.
spray it with corrosion x each time.

it gets washed everytime. Mechanic says its from electrolysis from the rod not being grounded
