Hi Jim,

I'm liking what I see in the new Simrad units. I have 2 HDS-8's with LSS-1, BR24 linked together via the LSS-1 box and an RC42 linked via nmea 2000. I also have the RM S1000 AP.

Would an NSE8 literally be a simple swap with one of the HDS-8's? Or are the connectors, transducers, etc. different? I have the HDS-8 OEM 83/200 transducer plus an Airmar P66 currently in use, both selectable from the HDS-8's.

Thanks, GulfC

You can use the same ducer but you'll need the BSM1 to make the NSE8 into a FF. The NSS8 has the FF built in though.

The power cable is different. The network cable to go between the units would be the same. So it is mostly compatible.

Will the Lowrance LWX-1 work with the NSS7/8?

I know it will physically connect, but I doubt it will work. If it did work Simrad would never sell another WM-2 again. Might be worth the gamble to try it.

You should be able to pull sonar from the HDS 8, Save the cash from the BSM1 They should work together with everything but backlighting.Hook it up check the device list it all should be there.

Jim,

I have similar setup above with 2 HDS8's, BR radar, LSS1 and Sonichub.

Will the Lowrance BR24 and Sonichub be compatible with NSE?

The sonichub will be, the radar won't be but Simrad should be able to advise you on a different RIM Module to allow your radar to work.
