I have an older contender and was wondering what everybody uses to clean their boats decks after hard days fishing… after you clean it do you use any kind of UV block or stain block that’s not slick…

starbright, maybe some chlorox, then some woody wax. A stiff brush and stiff drink.
the woody wax has some good stuff that will help stop staining in future, so does the starbright has PTF teflon wax jazz. then repeat with another stiff drink

I'm also a Starbrite and Woody Wax user. The Woody Wax works really well. Your deck will clean up much easier with Woody Wax applied. My only problem with Woody Wax is it doesn't last long, I need to reapply it about every 3 weeks. It's very easy to apply just make sure you don't put too much on, follow the instructions carefully. Also be careful when you first put it on, it's very slippeery at that point. Once it dries and you spray it off it turns into an excellant non-skid.

Any of you struggle with leaf stains?? I have a contender as well which is docked near a neighbors house/trees and I struggle to get the stains out. I use starbright which seems to get most of the stain out and magic erasure very sparingly but the leafs stains are brutal...
Any suggestions;?

Comet or Ajax with a stiff deckbrush and two beers. Pressure wash once a year.

Soft scrub / Bleach got the leaf stains out of my deck before I covered it . Applied a coat of Meguiars cleaner wax on top of that.
P.S. had to let the soft scrub sit for a couple of minutes

I feel your pain ! After you clean the leaf stains off, use the woodys wax..it will make the stains come off much more easily going forward.

Does the wax make the deck slippery when it gets wet?

Bar Keepers friend, some roll off and a stiff brush work it in real good and the stains should be gone, if not instnatly then in a day or so with the sun hitting the freshly cleaned areas.

I used to struggle to scrub out leaf stains til i found out that all you have to do is wash with boat soap and then let the boat sit in the sun for a few days and the UV will bleach out the stains.

Hottoddie: Funny you say that because in my case, the boat sits behind a friends house so if I wash it after fishing or cruising and do my best to get the stains out with say Starbright Deck cleaner, I may not get all of the stain out. I head home and come back down mid week to check on the boat and most of the stains seemed to have dissappeared but of course replaced with new ones... Seemed weird to me that was the case but you've just confirmed my suspicion... Appreciate the response because I'm very leary of using a lot of products on the boat even though others have explained success with them...
And night crawler, nuthin better then spending time cleaning the boat,
a little Margaritaville satellite radio on, and some very cold beverages of your choice
Here's a picture of her behind the house "resting"...

Star brite Instant Hull Cleaner is also very effective at removing stains caused by leaves blowing into your boat. It also will get rid of the rust outlines left by those hooks and pliers your brother-in-law left on the deck the last time you took the boat out.
