The first new Deep Impact 399 hit the water late Sunday afternoon for a quick test prior to the Ft. Lauderdale show...

It's in final assembly and detail today...followed by show move in tomorrow...

The boat is 39.5' long with a 10'7" beam.
We weighed the boat at 13,800lbs...empty....

This boat is powered with triple 350 Mercs.
The boat will be at the Ft. Lauderdale show, as well as on the Key West Poker Run on the 10th..

(Yes, I know the radar bar is not on there... We have to trailer without it due to clearance issues)

See you all at the Ft. Lauderdale Show:thumbsup:

I know... Just needed a crafty headline to gather some attention...

The boat ran great, but we have a fuel delivery issue that we will get handled before the after show demo rides. It only gave 2 min of WOT before starving for fuel and the engines laying down on guardian... We know what the problem is already...
The boat was running 73 and still pulling when the engines pulled back. Yes, it's very fast.

Good for you, nice ride.

Yep!....Still looks fugly. Cut the top of the cap towards the stern to kinda follow the "dark" line of the boat, and youll be making progress in the astetics department.....my .02 like it or not.

Agreed, the cap on the stern is kind of an eye sore. Sweet boat otherwise.

Yep ugly ass boats! Reminds me of an old chevy montecarlo with hydraulics, motion neon, curtains with those things hanging from the windows, a couple of la raza mexican gang members and ALOT of bass.
Not exactly for the educated crowd. More like Hialeah tow truck driver crowd.

Interestingly Deep Impact has resorted to spamming craigslist with ads. Here's one from Florida's west central coast area: http://sarasota.craigslist.org/boa/2669239434.html. Sales must be "really" slow for them.

Ofcourse the sales are slow, they are really ugly boats!

Whats the ask? If its anywher close to a sea vee, yellowfin, contender, whitewater, pursuit, grady white, fountain, venture, jupiter, sea hunter, bahamas, or anyting along those lines then thats why they can't sell one, imo they are ugly and I have seen a ton of them on racks driving to the keys with orange and white mercurys and matching paint colors. And we wonder why they can't sell a boat. ha

I don't get it... the boat is freaking beautiful...

Maybe ya'll want them to go back a few years? put out a 2000 yellowfin? Try something simple that's been done 1000 times?

...I'm thinking canoes - 'The Deep Impact 20' Canoe' - I'm thinking they'd sell off the shelf... canoes have some nice lines....

...Cheers to pushing the envelope! Sexy boat. Thanks for sharing...

Deep Impact is spending big $ to try and compete with the fishing industry leaders and remain relevant in the leisure go fast market as well. How the react to advice on more fine tuning of their fishing layout will decide if DI continues to evolve and attract serious anglers. As it is...no!

Sorry Tim. I am sure this is an amazing boat with some fantastic qualities, but with the cap melting over the rear it just kills the look for me.

Its what I would expext from 4 winns if they decided to go with big center consoles

it's not just looks.....its also function. To reach around outboards and that huge cap near the transom is not easy on a fisherman. It looks like you would need a 9 or 10ft rod.

Some of the comments here are just plain rude.......One or two of them are just people being outright a$$holes!!

Im not crazy about the lines of the boat for me personally, but it looks like it is one tough and solid riding center console! It is a beast of a boat for sure. Good luck with them Tim!
I too would curious to see interior shots

Tim, if you want to just get rid of the boat and start over you can PM and i'll take it off your hands. I think its a sweet ride. I am going to have to sell alot more drugs to get my hands on that ride.

Pics attached, as requested.

Yes, we have a mold insert to remove the bow seating for those that prefer a flat deck space.
And, we have another insert that deletes the two transom livewells for those that prefer no livewells and a larger cockpit.

Getting even better...are those in deck boxes new? Insulated coolers?

I love the layout (only 1 or 2 more things I would change) but as soon as I see your cap and the outside of the boat I try and not puke...that cap is a mess.

tim deepimpact

They will do well with fish, ice, or whatever you like... even puke;)

Most of the people commenting that is ugly are the old farts who aren't prone to change. Personally this is one of the sexiest boats I have ever seen. Looks good for the up and coming generation of fishermen. I'll tip my hat when I blow by y'alls old boats.

I guess that could be a great 6th post. I am just stating that the boat just might not be for everyone since most people aren't prone to change... Maybe I came off a little harsh on the "tip my hat part" but I think the boat will grow onto people. Just like the other tech stuff that has come out such as the iPhone and the iPad. It is just a matter of time before it becomes a normal look.

The "walk around" center cabin is next in our line of projects for the 39.... We will have one prior to the Ft. Lauderdale show next October....

I'm planning to go full express with our 42.... How about Cummins with arnesons?

I started out truely hating these boats but after seeing the pictures of the improvements Im starting to turn a little. What about taking away the nascar seats, throttles, and steering wheel. I really think those really down grade the boat and turn it towards more negative market.

Tim why not Cummins with NXT or Yanmars with Asd-8's.. I know you know this..The asd 8s are a stronger drive but is there not a better position in staying with the Merc products.. thanks.. Jeff

Any spy shots/cgi's of that 39 layout? Were you thinking about something along the lines of the Contender Fish Around style? We would be potential buyers of such a vessel, especially if it had at least 6'5 headroom in the cabin.

P.S.
Spoke with the owner of an orange hulled DI 36 here in NJ. Owner said it was one of the first of the "new" DIs. He had nothing but kind words for you and DI. Can't wait to go for a cruise in it. Awesome product
