Wife and I headed out, had to do some searching. Ended hitting 2 tickets with perch average 8"~10" with a good number 11" and 12". All caught at 34.6/20.9. Total weight was 21.7#. Lots of double headers and only a half dozen or so of white perch.

Dock neighbor caught his 1 man limit only a couple miles out but the fish were small.

The Bait Box fish cleaning place was closed with sign on door to call owner if you had fish to be cleaned. She said she closed at 2 pm today because no one was coming in with fish.

Great day on the water.

BTW: Showed the catch and reported the coordinates to Joe at Central Basin. He said he just received a call from a customer (2 on the boat) who was at 34/20 and caught 20 in 10 minutes with most being double headers.

That is a fine mess of yankee fish. How do they taste? Like large mouth bass, blue fish?

I prefer the small fish versus the large when fishing for food. Speckled trout 12"/14", red fish16", black drum16" all taste best when small. Lemon fish, flounder are the exception to the rule.

I cannot describe their taste but IMO they are only behind Crappie for the best tasting fish coming out of the Lake. We have had a great fishing year (perch wise) and have given away some 110 scaled fillets away to family and friends so far with another 50 or so yet to be given away. We will host a perch fry with friends this winter and have several nice perch fry dinners to share with my wife.

Catching them is fun as is being out on the Lake with my wife.......sharing the bounty is equally fun!.

We ended up with 70 or so yesterday up in Michigan Lake Erie waters. Beautiful weather right now... Every kind of boat you could think of out there from 14' Aluminum to 50' Double Cabin Cruisers.....

Those are nice sized ones OSU. If that is 60 and 21# that is pretty darn respectable.

They taste great for those wondering. Much different than salt water "panfish" . Somewhat more delicate i guess you could say.

nice catch!

I never understood why guys cuss about the white perch so much. The local Kroger sells them for $8 a pound. I keep them and filet em out for neighborhood fish fry days. perfectly good to eat, as long as they are big enough to be worth the cleaning time I keep them. The guys at work enjoy them in a fish fry every now and then too.

Yellow perch in my opinion are as good as any fish you can find to eat.
