I use my boat as an escape from the everyday drama like these kind of matters, not get involved in more. Is this the only dump facility on Alum Creek? I assume it isn't so what is the problem with just using the facility where you are launching your boat?

I'm a little confused. while I often go to the dog park at Alum Creek, it's been sometime since I've boated there. I know they have the "main" marina. I looked on the map (http://alum-creek-state-park.org/resources/alum_creek_park_map.pdf) and did not see the "sailboat marina". Is it different then the "main" marina?

Perhaps the Alum Creek Sailing Assoc, "leased" the area from the state, therefore making it private?? I know that is done on some of the municipal waterways.

Yes, this is the only dump station.

The sailing Marina is a vendor lease, the terms of the lease are that the property is to remain open to the public, It is not accessible by watercraft, we can not get to the restrooms or parking lot.

there is no pumpout at the main marina??? what do all the cruisers do that are docked there?

If the sailing marina is not accessible by watercraft.....how do the sailboats get there? I'm still confused! LOL....wouldnt be the first time though :)

A few of the sailboat club people are running the public away from the docks and refusing docks to access the restrooms and parking lot, they dont like power boats.

There is one vacuum pump out at the main marina and one portable toilet dump at the sailboat marina. Each is the only dump station for that type of toilet.

I can understand why they should not be able to block access by land (parking lot access) but why should they be required to provide a dock for you?

I'm not sure I follow the whole issue and problem correctly, but if I pulled up to a public dock, in a public marina, and sought to pay for having my head emptied I would think someone would gladly take my money.

If there was some altercation about the fact my boat's engine displaces 454 cubic inches instead of 6, I guess I'd smile and give them a choice: hook up the pump or watch what comes out from under my keel as I flip on the macerator . . .

:o

The terms of the CVA grant say that they are supposed to have an accessible Dock with signage indicating there is a pump out station. They have none of this and they tell people to leave when they approach.

Please sign the petition to get this resolved.

is this the only marina? or do you have a personal gripe?

This is the only restroom area in the swimming and camping cove. It is also the only portable toilet dump station on the entire lake.

Yes I have a personal interest in seeing this resolved. My brother in law is chronically ill and has a boat at this marina. There is no where for me to get to him and tie up, no courtesy docks, if I tie in an empty or unused spot to help him load, unload, work on boat etc. I get yelled at by hardliners. I also have other family and many friends at this dock, I would like to be able to visit them, pick up my nieces, drop of my kids use the restroom, pick up my wife.

Please sign the petition.

You are changing the issue, first you state that they are to have a dock available for someone to tie up and access the restroom facilities and dump station, now you want to have a dock so you can visit friends and family along with picking up and dropping off passengers. Sounds like you are just looking for a free dock without having to pay a membership fee.;?

I signed the petition...mainly because I think blowboaters are a snooty bunch. :)

You need to post this on every fishing blog. Ohio fishing forum. Get all the information out there, so people know the truth about the sail boat club.

Can you post the language in the lease between the State and the club which prohibits them from restricting powerboats from the docks? If it is similar to other leases between the State and clubs (like Middle Bass Island YC's lease and Attwood Lake Yacht Club) they are free to make any type of rules they wish to for their docks and the premises. If you have an issue it sounds like you need to take it up with the club (or perhaps re-think joining a blow-boater club when you are a power boater).
